What a total lack of electrical engineering knowledge. The tens of thousands of pounds for a generator (if bought) would be small beer compared with other costs; well into six figures believe me as I have dealt with procuring generators up to 650Kva and accompanying infrastructure.
Do you know the difference between KVa and kilowatts? Do you know what PFC is and leading and lagging power factors. Do you think the same size cabling which runs into a house would carry hundreds of amps. No of course you don't so leave your 5 year old technical knowledge off this site.
