Anyone know much about Oh Polly? I see a huge amount of girls tweeting about them and their clothes seem really popular. https://everipedia.org/wiki/lang_en/oh-polly
They’re hardly sweat shops when you compare them to vietnam or india etc. They could just turn the heating down! We all know the slave wage scandal was a benefits scam anyway... the “slaves” were being paid a low wage so they could claim benefits at the same time. As usual the main loser is the tax payer while the factory bosses take advantage of the system.
When you say teens buying up boo is this what you’re on about Jimmy?...... https://youtu.be/Jd0EczyO0Xk
Good luck to everyone holding Boo. I sold out and moved my money out of the market for now until April when I’ll probably chuck £20k in an ISA and invest in bluechip companies or an ETF just to get a modest return. Happy to admit AIM is far too stressful for me. I have a good job and investment properties bringing me in a healthy income anyway so don’t know why I got involved in a Mancunian clothing brand in the first place, apart from obviously seeing an opportunity with the slave wage situation and potential recovery. I actually remember buying from boohoo last year only to send everything back because it was really poor quality and it didn’t fit but it was about £4 a T shirt so what did I expect. Overall I’m down about £2k in the 6 months I’ve been investing which I’m putting down as a learning experience. I have boo in my practice account so I’ll be watching it now and then and probably kick myself when it hits 300 then 400 and think I could’ve been up £20k but at the moment I don’t need the stress.
Amazing timing for the vaccine announcement literally days after the election. They knew full well it would’ve helped Trump stay in power if they released it last week. Coincidence that Pfizer also donated to the Biden campaign. I’m suspicious of this 90% claim, don’t trust it, with the amount of money at stake these companies will say anything.
Bablake there’s every chance your daughter could be right which means ASOS would also be in trouble. There are many clothing brands trying to steal boohoo’s business... gymking, nimes, fathersons, gymshark. All these actually make very decent clothes but they dont have the exposure and following that boohoo have and are tadpoles in comparison. Its not easy getting millions of followers on social media, that alone is worth thousands. I think even if/when the clothing giants such as Next and River Island catch up with boohoo the share price will be way over 400p. Just need this new factory completed to shut the press up and a new auditor then we’re laughing.
I was also in NIO at around $15 and NET but sold both way too early. Shows my inexperience as I clearly should’ve let them run but I’m glad I’m at least choosing the right stocks. I’ve recently bought £5k worth of ishares clean energy ETF (INRG). I personally would’ve preferred a Trump win but as Biden has promised to spend billions on clean energy hopefully this will shoot up when money starts flowing into those stocks.
