Heading towards breaking even. This has been a bit of a drag (along with GSK) on my portfolio. Kept chasing it down with small additional buys. Once it hits 38.4 I'm even. The rest is just jam. That only leaves GSK, which I just can't fathom.

I think you missunderstand my take on 'Walter Mitty:. Sorry for the confusion.
I suspect the market has overreacted to some of the news, but it is only my opinion, and I do understand that despite this much of the negative has already been priced into the SP. However whatever happens with Brexit and Covid19, I feel there is some economic hardship ahead, with the possibility of some taxation changes to recoup losses. I am not certain the full impct of this is known. I dont think it would take a lot of bad news at the moment to cause a dent to SPs over much of the market. Interest rates are low and likly to reain so for the foreseeable future. Its a balancing act for the chancellor and BOE to keep inflation in check but encourage businesses. That said I believe LLOY is cheap and despite the choppy waters ahead and dont see a 20% rise in SP as un-optimistic. 20% increase in any SP with current inflation makes me very happy indeed.

I like 'not exciting' in a stock, rather that than boom & bust. For me its a keeper and a forever part of my portfolio. Boom & bust may be good for day trading, but few are good at it and I don't have the 100,000's of pounds required to stand a chance of making it work. I buy what I understand looking to make a modest profit over the long term. NG. fits me nicely.

I know this is an old thread. But I'm a fan of SSE. I think its a developing area with huge potential. I bought a few shares earlier this year as part of a diversified portfolio. Only 675 shares at a cost of £11.7817 including fees/taxes. (6.7% of portfolio). I'm not a big player, and certainly an amature, but do ok.
In the mix I also have NG., and UU. (got to love a utility stock) A couple of banks, some oil, insurance, and supermarket. Just looking to hold, reinvest divis, and buy additional shares as funds permit.
For me SSE is a keeper.

There are some, how can I put it, unusual people on the LLOY chat. A couple of Walter Mitties I suspect, and quite a lot of junk typed. I would filter them out but I find them interesting in an amuseing sort of way.
Do you guys/gals filter them out?
Be nice to get Brexit in the rear view mirror, and get a grip of covid19, then hopefully after a bit more pain things should pick up. It would be good to see 45p over the next 12 months. If we get a deal, I will be very confident, if not I guess I'm still optimistic, but it could be a bit of a marathon. Just my humble take on things.

Ok despite my saying I has fallen out with LLOY shares, I topped up today with another 33622 shares.
At least its brought my average SP below the 40p mark. I now hold at an average of 38.4p.
Hope I made the right call.
Hoping that whichever way the BREXIT talks go it will bring some stability.

However do you have a view on how eithe a deal or WTO terms will influence the SP

I think its very likly we will exit without a formal trade deal, and most likly negoiate one with the EU in the next couple of years. If as I suspect we leave on WTO terms, I think LLOY will dip back to 30ish.
I would appreciate any views you have on the impact on LLOY SP should this come to pass.

Hells teeth. Not sure why I bother Tesla model 3 long range can do 353 miles on a full charge. If you use all the performance (you wont keep it your licence long) then just like fossil fuel the range drops. I have tested some little town cars as part of my old job, Nissan Leaf and a couple of others. Even these small cars provide astonishing linear power delivery and in 30-60mph ranges they are quick. I'm not sure what this has to do with BP but to be honest I dont like the tone of Cat. Another keyboard warrior.

I'm looking at 4 possible EVs for next year . Currently the gov still provide a new EV grant of £3000, as long as the vehicle does not fall in the luxury definition i.e. does not exceed £50000. Its a bit of a pain for a couple I'm considering Ford mach-e and BMW i4, as to get in below the threshold it puts some variatios of those vehicles outside the grant. Tesla model 3 is fine as is the Polestar 2. I know it sounds strange, but boot size will be a deciding factor for my needs. Its rare for my journeys to exceed 60 miles now, so range isnt the biggest factor for me.

Only have 14255 LLOY at an average of 42.38p and sitting on a paper loss of £1022.
LLOY was really good to me a decade or so ago, but at present I just cant bring myself to buy any more.

I to am absolutly secure in BP.
In my post I only make reference to small passenger vehicles, I agree completly regarding large vehicles, planes etc.
I could go on to explain my rational in more detail, but I'm not here to argue, and in essence we agree, BP is a good investment, more so at the current bargain prices.

In 2018, about 15,500 new EV and hybrid vehicles were registered in the UK.
In 2019, about 37,800 new EV and hybrid vehicles were registered in the UK.
So far this year new registrations are about 66,600.
While they still only account for about 6.7% of new sales it does seem to be increasing substantially year on year.
I agree that larger vehicles at present do not seem viable for electric power trains.
Bottom line is BP will still be here in 50 years, and they will always plan for the future.
This is a share I intend to hold forever.

I fear I dissagree, and accept its only my opinion, and we know what they say about opinions.
Its easy to ban the sale of new small passenger vehicles powered solely by fossil fuels. There would be no immediate impact on the end user as used vehicles will remain plentiful for many years. Many vehicle in excess of 10 years old are still on our roads, which will afford options to those who do not wish to or cannot afford an electric vehicle. By the time it becomes an issue there will be a plentiful supply of used electric vehicles on the market and it is probable that EV prices will be lower in general by that time. New technology is always costly, but prices are tempered as time passes.

I believe this has been the case for some time. The information was released over 10 months ago. From memory I think the sale of all new fossil fuel cars will be banned in the UK from 2030. Existing vehicles will continue to be used. Exemptions apply to HGV and similar vehicles, and they will continue to be sold. In effect I think (if I remember correctly), only pure electric or hybred (electric and fossil fuel) small passenger vehicles will be sold new in the UK from 2030. I don't really see this as an issue. Fossil fuel cars will still be in use for at least 10 years after 2030. BP are already planning to survive the green driving evolution, and it can already be seen as a done deal by the considerable increase of small passenger vehicles already on the roads. I myself intend to purchase either an e-mach, Tesla, Polestar 2 or BMW i4 next year depending on deals and suitability for my needs. I think BP will use this opportunity to grow new income streams, and are well placed to invest in these technologies.
I currently hold 2672 shares at an average of £2.47 (Including dealing costs/taxes), and hope to double that holding by buying dips.

Made a small buy last week 2000 shares with fees which stands me at £1.9475 SP.

Keeping an eye on this as seriously considering adding another £30k if it hits <1.90. Cash short for the next couple of months which will check my impulse to buy, and allow a little time to see what happens.
i like the idea that BP are looking at being carbon neutral and moving more into renewables which I firmly believe to be the future.
I'm already well into SSE and NG. for similar reasons.
If I had that £30k spare now I would have dropped it all on my original purchase.
