I'm looking for 39p today.

It would be nice to see a rise in sp.
I just bought 83440 which with the £173 tax etc. stands me with a SP of 38.51.
It needs to bump 0.2p to more or less break even.

Experienced investors should be here to help those with less experience by providing considered opinions they believe in on these forums.
I do not believe the stock 'DYOR' should exempt anyone from that.
While I am far from an expert, I neither purport myself to be such, nor do I have any agenda. I simply share my thoughts and enjoy reading other views which allow me to explore other avenues of thinking.

In the current climate I think its madness to suggest LLOY will hit 40p in less than 48 hours. You should really consider that you might cause some poor soul to lose money with your statements.
Its not that I don't think LLOY is a sound long term investment at these prices, but anyone who thinks they will make a quick profit should be very cautious at the moment.

I've never liked airlines, so not able to comment.
Banks and oil I think will climb.
But there is a lot of debt to be repaid and I think banks have a steep hill to climb in the short to medium term. Interest rates are low, and a lot of small businesses will go to the wall. Look along any town high street to see the number of empty premises.
Oil I think will be less impacted, and will climb as travel increases.
Buying banks and oil cheap now, will I think provide good rewards over the medium to long term horizons.

Oh and I forgot to mention 'common standards' and 'dispute resolution' neither of which appears to have been resolved.
Brexit has been some sort of tragic farce from start to finish.
I have no idea why Cameron was not held to account for holding a vote with no plan on how to enact either of the possible outcomes.
He might as well have held a vote on jumping out of a plane, and once the majority voted yes, and everyone was on the way down. Someone asked him this is going well, what happens next. To which Cameron replies, oh we hadn't got that far, we never thought you would go for that option.

Barnier is being quoted as stating 'he was uncertain whether he will be able to clinch a deal because of disputes over post-Brexit fishing rights and common standards.'
EU sources are being quoted as stating ' their negotiator “wasn’t particularly optimistic” over the chances of securing a deal.'

I think both sides have backed themselves into a political corner. Someone has to lose, but I doubt either side is willing to.

Even if they do find a compromise, time is now against them. The legal text needs translating into goodness know how many languages (Although one would hope the bulk of this has already been done on those areas already agreed). The documents need to be reviewed by all parties, no mean feat considering the amount of text.
It may be time means we now leave with no deal by default.
Oh and in addition the agreement needs to be passed by a majority vote.
Why after all this time its come down to the wire is beyond reason.

I suspect the market will overreact and the SP could well head a little north of 40p.
It will then settle somewhere south of 40p, and depending on the full impact of covid19 on the economy, will possibly fall below 35p.
I can't see it below 30p consistently with the information available.
However on the flip side, even with a no deal, that would still end that particular element of uncertainty. And the markets hate uncertainty. So that may also trigger a boost to the SP.
Who knows......

Common sense would indicate to me that a deal is in the best interests of all concerned. However politics and economics are strange bedfellows. In addition common sense despite its name appears to be very illusive in the modern world.

This is how I see things playing out, and of course I could be talking absolute rubbish, and I'm just thinking out loud really.
If and I do mean IF we get a deal I can see this heading a little north of 40p for a short while, and when the dust settles and the excitement is tempered with the facts it will probably fall back to soewhere from 30p to 36p. Over the next few months it may well start to creep up again but I can' t see it holding consistently over 40p for at least 12 months.
If we fail to get a deal I can see it dropping back to sub 30p, and once the doom and gloom is tempered with looking forward it will start to creep a little higher. In the months/years that follow at some point we will get a trade agreement with the EU, inflation and interest rates will get back to normal levels and the SP will become more stable.

Don't want to sound gloomy, but I can't find any reference to deal being as stated above. I hope I'm wrong.
Barny may not even turn up this evening acording to several snoozepapers. It would appear neither side is able to give ground. Political pressure on both sides seems to make it impossiblem for them to give ground even if they want to.
At the start of the week I thought we might get a deal, now I'm very doubtful, So much so I solg £12k of LLOY from my BED account this morning making a modest profit, which is a shame as I had intended to hold long term. I retain about £6k in my ISA as I still believe long term LLOY will be a good source of income. I just dont want to look at short term losses if I can avoid it.

I must confess I was strongly considering selling all the LLOY in my BED on the bell if I could get 40. (Those in the ISA I tend to leave alone)

Even though tey are my biggest loser, it hasn't changed my view of GSK, at these prices if I had the funds I'd double down with another £35k in a heartbeat.

I feel your pain to a degree, but for me its GSK, down £4k, and falling still.
I had dumb luck with BP ^9%, LGEN ^30%, AV ^20%, SSE ^17%.
GSK unfortunately is my biggest holding.
Remember paper losses don't count in the game. If divis keep rolling in thats real world gains.
Keep the faith, BP IMHO remains a good solid share with a bright future.

Below 13.60, I never would have believed it.
I would buy if I could, even believing its going to continue to drop.
This is a fire sale price.

I don't feel it will make any difference, nothings going to change dramatically. There will be fossil fuel cars still being used for some years after that date. Lubricants will still be required. 10 years is a long time which will allow BP to re-position itself in a changing world.

Its just such a good company. It was cheap at £15 when I bought in, and if I had spare cash I'd drop another 35k on it in a heartbeat. Unfortunately at present all my funds are committed elsewhere, and I'm happy with the choices. If it keeps this up the only silver lining is in a couple of months I may have the ability to get some moreof these at bargain basement prices.

GSK really baffles me. Its my biggest holding in the portfolio, I think its a great company, but it keeps dropping regardless.
I just can't see a reason for it. I know it will pick up and nothing has changed in relation to why I chose it so its still a forever stock for me.
