I blame the VOD BOD for making some poor decisions.
The Vodafone takeover of German rival Mannesmann takes a bit of beating for sheer destruction of shareholder value, and still yet to fully recover, and that was 20 odd years ago.
2019 Vodafone makes a £6.6bn annual loss resulting in a 40% dividend cut.
Vodafones dividend has fallen in the last five years, so that may have contributed to the share price decline, and the revenue decline of around 1.4% would not have helped the stock price either.
There have been some insiders have who have made significant purchases in the last year which I take as a good signal.
I think that over time the SP may improve, but I think any shorts are are just symptoms of the underlying issues, which begun several years ago.
Since I hold long term for the dividend which is still decent, the SP will only cause me a problem if I have to sell.
The BOD is I think a very different animal today, and I look forward to better times ahead. While its nice to have a dividend, its good to also see a reasonable SP.
