I forgot to add, the other reason for the buyback/correction of the SP was to allow current/long term investors to exit at a 'fair price' if they didn't agree with the change of investment strategy that was declared a while ago.
That seems to be fair play although there could be an ulterior motive i.e. investors dumping early at 14p/15p so Investec can mop up at a better price?

Ishy12, it's a reasonable question but pretty sure the answer is 'no'.
The purpose of the share buyback was to close the SP gap from where it was - the 'discounted' price of 13p or so - back to where it should be, equal to the NAV, around 19p.
They proposed to buy back 'up to 20%' of the shares in issue, around 140 million. I guess they will stop buying when the SP gets somewhere close to the NAV, although that could change now that LDG/DBay have begun investing some of the cash pot.
Anything is possible.

Looks like Investec had a slow day on Friday, only 100,000 shares bought back.
Total now 24,642,021, about 17.6% of target.

I was right - confusing!

So, the 5 directors have stumped up £5.9M of their own cash, that suggests they have complete confidence in their ailing cash-strapped business.
I wonder why that is?

It seems confidence is building here along with optimism judging by the volume of buys, I just hope neither are misguided.
I once bought in here (on a crazy speculative whim to be honest) then became very jittery about Harry & all and sold out at a small loss (hey ho) but now I'm in again and holding for a decent pay day.
Time will tell, let's hope it comes to fruition this time.

As a novice investor - and hopefully not completely naïve - I have total confidence in pretty much everything I have heard and read so far about HE1 and their Tanzania project; DM seems like a trustworthy chap (went to Uni in my home town so can't be all bad!) and all involved appear have a good reputation.
There are points in history where we all wish we'd been involved at ground zero e.g. Apple, Amazon etc. and I really believe and hope this is one of those.
With any luck we will hopefully soon have a much better idea of the lay of the land, and whether there is a ship load of helium in it or not.

I'm not so sure the 202,720 trade wasn't a buy, I don't think they would have got that price on a sale as it is over the midway point of the spread. I think that makes sense?
Either way, a higher volume of buys v. sells doesn't always appear to equate to a rising SP, especially when other market considerations e.g. Ukraine crisis dragging the market down, are having an effect.
Plus the buyback scheme has so far achieved around 17.5% of the targeted 140 million shares so still a long way to go to get the full effect of that I guess.

So yes, another 14,741,623 bought back yesterday. Total now 24,542,021, about 17.5% of target.

Also, I see the investment they made in CareTech @ £6.33 per share now trading @ £6.72.
Promising.

I would suggest the proceeds of the fundraising will be used to:
Prop up a failing business while it tries to work out what to do next!

They only listed a year ago @ £2 a share, now worth 20p if you're lucky, and now asking investors for more money. Anyone who buys in afresh should steer clear and anyone looking to invest further should put their money on a horse as that would probably be a safer bet.

Ultimately, I think this is doomed.

Unexpected! Certainly an interesting development. The main thing is it hasn't derailed the SP so presumably no real concerns about this investment.
I think I suggested a while ago that LDG might invest in property and with CareTech they sort of have, indirectly: CareTech have the Freehold to over 160 properties in their portfolio.
I also read on Proactive Investors that the original founders of CareTech have confirmed they are forming a consortium to make a takeover offer for the company, thereby taking it private and de-listing from the stock market.
Is it possible that LDG are looking to turn a quick profit based on this or a longer term investment?

I'm so glad I got out of this at the end of January and 'only' made a 27.55% loss, I could see it getting a lot worse and it has! About the only thing I've got right since I started investing in the Stock Market!!
On the plus side I have a side bet with a fellow investor who reckoned this would be worth £1 by Christmas '22, looks like I might win a tenner!
Sadly, I think Parsley might have terminal food poisoning.

That's for sure, but nice to have a holding that isn't falling....!!!

Investec picked up 1,708,271 shares on Friday, total now 6,589,088, about 4.7% of target.
SP holding well amidst all the other madness going on.
Sadly I sold some here a few days back in order to fund something else, a decision that hasn't worked out well and I now regret, should have held :-(

Are you suggesting that getting the helium out of the ground from 2km down could be complicated? Damn & blast, knew I should have done more research ;-)

I think they will definitely drill this year, hopefully we'll get a positive RNS soon and SP will rise, I really don't want to see further falls here. That was close, almost typed 'fuhrer' then, could have been embarrassing. Oops, just did, sorry.
