My Mrs put in a claim at hd law out of curiosity to see how they are dealing with things.. the below is a couple of cut m pasted paras … what do you think knot…

Based on our experience of over a decade in successfully acting for clients who have been the victim of financial mis-selling, we firmly believe the FCA are categorically wrong to state that a consumer does not need a solicitor. Their belief that a client would obtain less if they did use a solicitor, as compared to taking the time and effort to do their own claim, is also wrong. This would be substantiated if the scheme never comes out.

We are expecting a decision from the Court of Appeal during the summer on whether claims such as yours can be brought on a group basis against the same lender. If the Court of Appeal confirm that it can, then we shall seek your instructions to advance your case as part of a group rather than wait further for a scheme that may never come out.

What I really can t get my head round is that blithering idiot keeps throwing in the cost of living crisis - if this was in the middle of covid when people were getting 800 quid a week if they earned 40999 and 10k for renting a unit which cost them 700 quid a year would he be saying - well no one needs the money at the moment so we ll follow the law and leave it at that ! STP You are right Cbg did nt even flinch either in 2008 or Covid. When someone removes the FCA s foot off the lenders throats and hopefully amputates it, CBG will be back in to positive profits again and looking at the divi history way back to the early 90 s I can t see why it will not return along with some buy backs. My aim with cbg was to my enough volume of shares so that if it eventually payes anything north of .30 divi it pays me 38k pa and if it rises to say .67, 84500 pa or somewhere in between. It won t really matter what the sp is as long as it holds above the mid 2 s. Only if it hits the 10s will i consider selling

I tried to trade rolls from .70 upwards. Had i just left half the amount i was trying to trade in and forgot about it i would have made 10x more than i did. But cbg is different. The rolls boys (for example) only reason to hold now is in the hope of a further increase where as if the divis return i d still hold cbg at 11 quid

So the fca have essentially created / accelerated a feeding frenzy of claims (in an inciting racial hatred kind of way) via hightened media based on a scheme which did not follow law, leading to firms having to sell parts of their business / face possible bancrupty ! If any one but the fca did this - thats a claim in my view.

One q to ask in a no scheme scenario … does the provision already set aside then become taxable even though lenders may still

Need it for fos / claims etc , surely not as that would put the banks in an even worse situation

This country is just mind blowing. Imagine if businesses ran their operations like the idiots in ‘power’. They would nt last long, but then again businesses have nt got a bottomless pit of taxes to fund them

When you consider the numbers at stake for the lenders you can t help but wonder what meetings have gone on in the back ground between them all - I mean we are talking billions ! And they know that majority of claims are just plain hand outs.

They have a cotingency plan. .. interesting

Problem is other than sp rise there s no other reason to hold where as with stb, cbg(eventually) etc you get a fat divvy and gains (cbg still to play out )

I think I get what is going on now.. the lenders have let the cmc s challenge which will not go down well with legals, Lords and consumers re the delay etc The banks are now the good guys and playing ball for now.

If the FCA change the scheme the banks come in with another challenge and this time go for it ! but can say.. well we tried to play ball !
