Gusmao and presidential name dropper Horta , both make no secret of their

fondness for China and all it has done for them since independence, while

OZ dragged it's feet in comparison.

The previous PM set up the OZ funded Australia TL Gas/LNG development fund

just a few months before Albanese took over and increased its budget, so no

doubt, they are trying to get the old JPDA disputed area moving again after all

this time.........

but it would still be nice to see TL be up front about, is it all fields have one single

road to Beaco/Bettano on the Island, or will they boost the sectors interest NOW

with an announcement , other OPTIONS will be supported.

Ideally, showcasing Chuditch as they did with their own industry opening and bid

round launch , with another supporting its FPSO plan , with a side order of full

offtake of the Gas for its own Domestic and Northern PIT , Gas power stations plan.

(complete by 2025 provisional date in Parliament)

A Sale/JV partner coming in now , with deep pockets, could still have Chuditch ready

Like selling most of their stake back to the majors and settle for what they

could have since 2003, lots of tax and revenues ( free carry) + zero outlay

for all of their fields being developed , including Sunrise ? 😜

At last years Africa Oil and Gas conference, it was announced a NEW BANK was to

be set up, for African Oil and Gas/Energy projects, an African bank for the African

industry only, which would support all things Africa at competitive rates, to

allow more African project to develop quicker.

In the interim, while being set up, all major Africa banks had agreed to support

such initiatives as much as possible.........

Is JA waiting for the new bank and a better rate 😂

The Timorese Government will make changes to the entire oil and natural resources sector, including leadership positions, as part of changes to diplomas in force since last week, executive sources confirmed.

The appointments, which may be announced later this week, include new officials from the state oil company TIMOR GAP, the Institute of Petroleum and Geology, now renamed the Institute of Geosciences of Timor-Leste, the new mining company and also the sector's regulators.

Last week, a set of decree-laws were published in Jornal da República that affect all these institutions, as well as the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources (MPRM) itself.

They appear in particular at a time when optimism increases in Timor-Leste regarding the possibility of a solution, in the first half of 2024, for the exploration of the Greater Sunrise oil fields.

In an interview with Lusa last week, Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão was optimistic about possible solutions, in the first half of 2024, for the project, which awaits in the coming weeks a study on the various development options, requested by the consortium that manages Greater Sunrise, where the Timorese oil company TIMOR GAP holds the majority of the capital.

"I'm optimistic about an agreement at the beginning of 2024. I'm confident with this new Australian Government," said Gusmão.

In May 2023, Government adopted (Portuguese) a revised (readjusted) SDP for 2023-2028 (Tetum) (or 71 MB High-resolution version), together with a summary (Tetum) and appendices (Tetum) on the results framework and indicators and the operational plan and budget. The readjustment was released in the final days of the VIII Constitutional Government, and it is unclear what the incoming Government led by Xanana Gusmão (creator of the original 2011-2030 plan), will do with it, although the IX Government removed the readjustment from its website a week after taking office.
