had huge provisional budgets, rising to over $3 billion peak before dropping

off again 2026/27

This year 2023/24 total annual budget for the Island , just recently reduced

to around $1.6B, So the projects department predicted budgets massive by

comparison.

Metinaro FID was announced as Q4 2023 , Chuditch summer drill or drop extended

around the same time as that announcement.

The Council of Ministers decided to grant authorization for the signing of the memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Planning and Strategic Investment of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste and the National Development and Reform Commission of the People's Republic of China, on strengthening the exchange of information in the field of macroeconomic management and medium and long-term development planning , with a view to promoting the economic and social development of both countries, allowing the promotion, development and reinforcement of trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchange.

and investment formed about 18 months ago, think it was Doug posted the TL doc's

published for projected budget the coming years, that office's budget alone, was

provisionally higher than the current Island ENTIRE budget, rising to a peak of $3+

Billion (double current 2023/24 budget)

Then falling back in 2026/27 , only Metinaro on the books for that timescale, that

would cost the Island that much, Beaco tenders for by 2030... which will involve

around $12 - $13 Billion , TL have always looked for someone else to stump that

up, with TL to then payback a proportion from revenues/production. 😉
