New rules for electric vehicles provide for the manufacturer to mark and identify all plastic parts with a view to recycling. Composting bio-plastics is cheaper than recycling oil-based plastics. all those TVs, PCs, printers, disposable razors etc. are easier to dispose of/ recycle if they are made from bioplastics. EU regulations for plastics in contact with food come into force in 2013. Italy has just become the first country in Europe to implement a complete ban on non-biodegradable plastics shopping bags. Macedonia has revealed it intends to introduce a total ban on regular plastic shopping bags, prompting a switch to biodegradable bags by 2013. The European Parliament has voted to tighten rules on disposing electronic waste, voting for tougher collection, recycling and re-use targets within a reformed European Union (EU) waste electrical and electronic equipment. The Las Vegas bioplastics conference is on now - 1-3 Feb 2011. I would expect there will be news from this meeting and a breakthrough in sales.

As oil prices increase, so do the polymers made from oil. Bioplastics will soon be used in all computers, TVs printers, Ipads etc. because bioplastics have anti-static properties which are better for sensitive electronics. according to Deloitte, the growth rate of BIOME is 1132%. Deloitte also states: "We estimate that over the last ten years companies who ranked in the Deloitte Technology Fast 50 have generated more than £5bn orf value for their shareholders in exits and IPOs since featuring in the Fast 50 rankings. ALBk taken over would be a big loss of face for them. How come there wasn't a bid for RBS which a pair of years ago, an 'analyst stated that RBS was cheap at 7 squid ! A takeover would be cheaper for the Irish Government because unlike the UK, the Irish can't print their own money, they have to borrow from the ECB, so a bid for the bank would be good news for shareholders such as - the Irish government!

This on the independant ie: he taxpayer has already spent €3.5bn propping up AIB but the eventual size of the bailout is likely to be much larger. The bank said last week that it will need to raise €5.3bn of additional capital by the end of February to reach targets set by the Central Bank. Most analysts expect the bank won't be able to raise this amount, which will force the Government to effectively nationalise it. The Government has also helped the bank by creating the National Asset Management Agency (NAMA) to buy distressed property loans -- a plan by which NAMA "invests" billions to buy AIB loans after years of reckless lending. That money, like the bailout money, may or may not be recovered in future. Shareholders lose - banks win again with bonuses for poor performances. Should be in jail, not enjoying Xmas!
