New rules for electric vehicles provide for the manufacturer to mark and identify all plastic parts with a view to recycling. Composting bio-plastics is cheaper than recycling oil-based plastics. all those TVs, PCs, printers, disposable razors etc. are easier to dispose of/ recycle if they are made from bioplastics. EU regulations for plastics in contact with food come into force in 2013.
Italy has just become the first country in Europe to implement a complete ban on non-biodegradable plastics shopping bags.
Macedonia has revealed it intends to introduce a total ban on regular plastic shopping bags, prompting a switch to biodegradable bags by 2013.
