There will be people who have averages way over 250. Someone had to drive it up to that 330 level. Also many will be pre covid holders. A t/o @230 wouldn't look too great to those guys!

The point of the analogy to WG was that if a P/E bid came in at 230 for NEX, obviously some recent buyers would say lovely. NEX is worth far more than that as is WG & that is why P/E firms want them!

Well when i saw the Wood bid ( i hold Wood shares) it looked so derisory 230. But the SP had been driven to such lows it represented a 50% premium. I remember when WG was trading in the normal market @250 & it was seen as a bargain. Yes i think something fishy is going on with NEX too. I think a P/E group is sniffing the fish!

Chappy, markets are still irrational. This is being priced at the same level it was during the depths of Covid despair for no obvious reason!

Same thing will happen this time around. Lots of peeps will take the10-20% rise. I want minimum 250 before any sells!

Nice buy that one Poker! yes, it's all a game of time in the market & holding out really. Nex went from 112 to 330 in 7months. Sept 2020-April 2021. Nice profit there if you can take all the gameplaying!

Well, this is now valued at @25% of what it was in Jan2020 just before Covid. I don't think the business operating model will have changed much since then just external factors. I'd be amazed if P/E houses haven't got their microscopes on this one!

As my luck would have it i'd sold a fair chunk of JW shares to buy in on NEX. FFS!

Poker, thanks. That would kind of make a lot of sense. It sort of protects the shorts from any unexpected news etc. Kind of a win win situation for them, no risk!

Poker, what is the significance of this? Do you think the shorts are buying huge amounts in the auction to sell back into the market. Sorry just not sure on this.

Shockingly, some people seem to think that workers are paid when they're on strike! i'm amazed how many actually think that. I know friends who work in transport & i know they get fed up of all the strikes. Losing 2 days or more money each month isn't easy & they don't do it without good reason!

Poker, of course the Government want to avoid wage/price spirals which happened in the 70s. However, i think you miss the point. Inflation has not been caused by wage increases in fact real wages have declined in recent years. The inflation is stoked by lots of different factors but i just think the Government isn't addressing it really at all. It's pretty galling to see Shell/BP/Centrica all reporting huge profits & deny nurses et all a realistic pay deal! The MPs always give themselves inflation busting pay increases!

Investors here need to always remember that ultimately the shortsellers want to buy your shares. They want to drive the price as low as possible so weaker hands succumb & sell their investments at losses which they will happily buy up & in the longer term reverse their short positions. Do not panic sell & do not set stop losses when this manipulation is going on!

As far as i see it if inflation is 10%, unions are quite justified in demanding 10%+ for their members. The aim being to improve living standards not just to maintain them or accept poorer conditions. The Government are just pathetic in their handling of the disputes IMO!

People who aren't in unionised jobs are generally jealous of people who are. Unions fight for their members pay & conditions. It's called collective bargaining. They argue for more cash; less hours etc. The employer says they've got no money etc. Eventually they meet in the middle. Like the share price manipulation, it's all just a big game!

Teddy as i recall it actually went to 66p for a few nanoseconds on Judgement Day!

Poker, personally i've always been of the view that this inflation is cost push not demand pull & is fuelled mainly by more expensive raw materials imports & such like. I think the BoE & current UK Govt are pretty pathetic really. Raising interest rates endlessly is just scratching the surface. A lot of the problems stem from Brexit trade agreements coupled with a workforce which since having 2 years of freebie furlough money no longer wants to work!

Well it's only been sub £1 during financial crisis & Armageddon Covid day . Both of those occasions were when the very existence of all companies & economies was in doubt. Personally i think despite the doom & gloom we are not quite in those situations atm. Buy when there's blood on the streets is the saying. This looks like it's around that level here!

You just need to look at the historic share price over the last 30 years to realise this is as cheap as chips. The current situation we have in the country is not a global pandemic (2020); The banking system is not collapsing (2008/9). Those were the times this share crashed . What we have now are medium term economic headwinds (inflation; industrial unrest etc) The country has had these problems before. They eventually pass. Now is the time to buy this share not when they give their results & the SP is rocketing away!
