Do a few localised strikes & inflation justify £750m knocked off this company's value in 12 months? Someone's having a laugh here!

I think NEX gets overlooked by the market compared with other shares. GNC the same. They're not crypto or tech type stocks. Just boring old companies providing things that people actually need & use. That stuff doesn't really excite the markets so pretty easy for any fund with financial muscle to control the SP movements!

Me, i think i've seen you comment on GNC. I see NEX as much the same as that. Bashed down for no reason. GNC now appears to be rerating. I'm sure NEX will follow a similar path!

Some peeps must be crystallising some horrendous losses selling down at these levels!

The next 3 days will be interesting. Could we see them trying to tank this to £1 or lower pre results?

Well CB as i see it , it's already testing the Covid lows if you discount the Armageddon day or 2 when the world ended. Other than that it hit 112 & bounced from there. Some people swear by the charts & stuff but in the end a decent well run company will always see the SP rerate to a justifiable valuation. The lack of an update since October has allowed shorts to play on fear of the unknown. At least on Thursday the truth will be out & this either continues to fall or begins to rerate!

Poker thanks for the response. I've always thought that people are reading too much into the UK activity which is actually only a small portion of this company. US & Spain are the real engine drivers here. As i read it ALSA stuff is ticking along quite nicely. It's the labour issues in the US which are really dragging this one. Sounds like fairly short term manageable stuff to me though.

Haha, Poker if i'd left my NEX funds in Wood Group i'd be buying the drinks. Alas i never time things right. Some reassuring words there as ever. What do you make of that Fitch report about negative FCF. Confusing to me. Seems to contradict the info in the RNSs.

If the financial numbers add up they should reinstate it though as per guidance. Strike action by TUs is a separate issue!

cutting an existing dividend is a reason to tank a share price. Not paying one that hasn't been paid for some time isn't!

They haven't had a dividend since onset of covid. No big deal in my eyes but yes mkt will react badly if they don't reinstate it. Just another buy opportunity should it arise!

Personally i'm not concerned about the dividend. A 5p SP rise is the same as a 5p divi in my eyes. If they pay a divi it's a bonus. One thing for sure though is if they confirm a dividend this will be straight back 150+

Locky, yes i agree with that sentiment. 1993 prices in 2023. Yes i'll have some more please! absolutely loaded up on this one now but nice low average around 130. Will add more next week too if they try dipping it lower still. i'd never normally buy so many shares but very confident that this worm will turn big at some point!

DB, the simple answer is yes. The short seller will try to drive down the SP by selling shares into the market they have on loan. At some point the short seller has to buy those shares back to return to the owner they borrowed them from. In the event that a company announce good news unexpectedly or otherwise. The short seller has to quickly buy the share back before the price rises too much. That is what is know as a short squeeze! Bit of a simplified explanation but that's it in a nutshell!

I sense some fear & panic amongst some of the comments on here now. This is exactly how the short sellers like it to be. The fear may overcome some weaker hands & they'll take a loss before the results. I've seen it many times before. IMO the results would have to be cataclysmically horrendous to justify where this SP is never mind any lower. In the event they are poorer than expected, just relax. This company will do well in the longer term. Index stocks like this one always recover from any large drops. This is not an AIM company. Your investment is safe in this one. Enjoy the weekend all!

haha, Mary yes a few names have appeared here which makes me think it's not far off a reversal!

The SP is being so controlled here i can't help thinking this will blow either way very soon!
