In my experience always best to sell pre ex rights trading & buy back on the open market later. I can't think of one in last few years where that hasn't been the case. Some have ultimately done quite well. Whitbread & RR spring to mind but i recall even on RR you were better off selling initially!

IAG did a RI in 2020. 3 for 2. The SP was in 170-180 range when was announced. It dropped a bit at first on announcement. Then it went over 200 pre ex rights trading. The ex rights shares traded in a 130-140 range (i think the TERP was 134) in the first week. It then dropped steadily & you eventually got an opportunity to buy them @90p which was the price of the discounted shares. Today 3 years on it is trading around what the TERP was then!

Mike yes i agree. Personally i'll be looking to jump in for a few around the £7 level if it gets there. I've been involved in few RIs & in my experience the SP always drifts significantly below TERP. Most decent companies bounce back though & this i believe would be a decent buy at those prices!

Charlie i imagine from a PR perspective NEX just wanted it off the headline page & took the view that the actual cost of the increased offer was worth taking to get the show back on the road. I seriously think the WM strike stuff is small beer in the multinational context which NEX operates in!

SP behaving as i expected. No big rise but looking to be stabilised & the rot has stopped for now at least!. Lot of impatience here & some moaning as usual. Look around at the shares all tanking. This has held up well when you look at the broader market!

The pay rise will be passed on either in fare rises or renegotiated contract . In the end this isn't luxury travel & people have no alternative anyway! WM is only a tiny part of NEX. I don't see any real impact in the fundamentals!

Looking to buy in here at some point. Missed out on the near £1 levels earlier in the year pre consolidation. Wondering how low this will go. RI shares always go way below the TERP.

tail swallowing is selling some of your existing shares & using the funds to buy the rights shares at the discounted price. If you hold shares in an ISA account & your maxed out on your allowance you have no choice but to swallow the tail!

I'm sure there'll be some fun & games with the SP in the morning. Banking issues still abound so not expecting any big rise. I'd settle for a bit of stability for now!

QD There's a few of us on here who bought the 2020 lows & sold out too soon. I'm one of them. I remember first buying this at around 146 after Dean Finch got headhunted by Persimmon. I kept buying in tranches then. My lowest price was 115. curiously the same price i added on Friday at. I sold almost all of them at around 150. About 20% profit but missed out on 100-150% profit. I never thought i'd get a second bite at the cherry on this one so i'm in for an absolute skip load of them!

I drove from West London to Reading yesterday morning to test drive a couple of new cars. In that short spin down the M4 & back i saw 6 liveried NEX coaches going about their business. When i see that it reassures me this is a good solid investment. Not crypto; not troubled retail; not AIM uninvestable nonsense. No, a good solid business which everyday does what it says on the tin. No BS. Those coaches were running the same as that when the SP was £4. Make your own minds up but this is a future goldmine here & i 'm going to be on the end of the wobbly rainbow for my share of the crock of gold!

As i see it NEX has held up pretty well over the last couple of months. If you look at the markets over the last couple of weeks lots of shares have been absolutely hammered down. 30-50% drops in some cases.

I personally believe that the shorts will be out of NEX prior to ex div date as they will not want the risk of having to pay 5p per share on top of the interest on those loaned shares. As has been discussed here before of course there is a strong possibility that they have already hedged their short positions by accumulating shares at the lower price levels.

Manz, i vaguely recall that you had an investment in Rolls Royce. Well if that was true, Rolls Royce was heavily shorted for a long period & look what happened there! The simple fact with shorted stocks is this: Unless there is an underlying structural or management problem within a company any short selling fund will ALWAYS ALWAYS close their short at a given point. It will happen on NEX too. The only question is when?

Well, as expected the strike is done with. No disrespect Manz but i believe you jumped in on this wanting a quick 10-20% & out. You have to be lucky in this game when that happens in a very quick timeframe. I think for the day or swing type investor there maybe better shares around than NEX. There is obviously potential here for a quick gain given the right news but for me it's a long termer & i'm happy for steady growth once the worm turns. This should be a safe & solid investment now at this level with a near 5% yield in place also. I've decided i'll add another few here next week if the price remains suppressed. I have bad memories of missing out on the huge gain late 2020-21. The opportunity to pick up shares like this at these prices doesn't come about too often so i'm taking advantage while i have quite a significant amount available to invest!

Demaw, patience is the biggest virtue in this game. Remember why you originally bought here & ignore the noise. I've seen so many good blue chip companies have their SPs trashed by shorters etc. The good ones always rise from the ashes.

It'd be quite hilarious if they voted against it!

Noggers sell up, then we'll get a takeover RNS & this will double bubble overnight!

Anything below 150 for this was always a bargain. any serious buyers here would be in . A company valuation of less than 2 years earnings with a huge pipeline of business. Waiting for a few pence less is just penny pinching & those who do will miss out on the huge upside!
