On almost every share which has been bashed down people talk in a frenzy about takeovers etc. Suddenly PFC is now a prime takeover target but last week it was a basket case according to the BB on that one. If a bid were to happen it is of course great news for those in at the low prices. Probably not so exciting for those who are very LTHs here who may have bought at £3-4 or more. NEX is a transport company. Day to day it seems to be doing everything right. The SP should grow organically bid or no bid. People are just too impatient. I'm happy for this to stay low for a while & keep adding.

Farraway, just had a look at some of the stuff you been in on: COPL; LOOP, Amigo. A sorry state them ones are. I got stung for a few £ with LOOP. My mate got caught on COPL. Personally i just avoid the AIM stuff altogether. As i posted a while back here, NEX is a real business with real assets. A quick drive down any major motorway in this country & you'll see a few £m of the assets in your investment hard at work. A no brainer at these price levels. Simple as!

Is there any benefit then in buying the right? why not just buy the full price share in the market?

One thing that confuses me here is that the right is currently trading at £1.50. Surely it must be wrong that you can buy a right to 8 shares @£4.9 for just £1.50??

Got to agree Garry Graham. This is one hell of a nightmare looking share. They've had a few of these placings & then a consolidation in the last few years. It does seem like it's an AIM type stock. Existing investors always get well & truly shafted on rights issues. I can't think of one in recent times where the prevailing share price has actually stayed above the original discounted price. I guess this may be worth looking at again but for now this knife looks like it's heading into the fiver zone!

& i make no apology for saying that JG is a classic example of what the shorters aim to achieve by creating the impression that a company is going to the wall to get PIs to sell at huge losses!

What's happened today on PFC will happen here one day. Probably on a smaller scale but then if you think NEX has taken a batter, PFC has been absolutely mauled by the shorts over the last few months. They are now burning in Hell over there!

PFC used to be my biggest holding. I moved it all to Wood last year when the prices almost hit parity. I then moved most of the Wood over to NEX when the drop started here. Dodged the bullet on the PFC tanking but then missed out on the big spoils on wood. You just can't get it right all the time. Very frustrating sometimes!

yes, agreed if the finance is required it is usually the route they take & if it's necessary then so be it. Always very painful for investors though especially if you don't have funds to buy the rights shares which is often the case!

Existing investors always lose out on a RI in the short term. Some shares recover some don't. RIs are never a good thing for anyone already invested but can present opportunities for newer investors to buy a share at a reasonable level into a company with fresh capital courtesy of the ones have lost out!

The IAG RI was a disaster for existing investors unless you sold out in the initial period. The shares dropped to 90p on the open market which was the RI 'discounted' price. It took any investor ages to get back to break even level. I was in that one for a lot of cash too & sat on a paper loss for ages.

So simplistically put. If you sold 3 shares today at £7= £21. You can then buy 8 shares for £5.55= @£44

yes you still have the rights if you sell today!

Claret, that will become apparent when you see the price which the rights are traded at!.

As i see it this RI has come about at a very inopportune time. I suspect many investors simply won't have the funds to buy their entitlements. It's a big ask during a time of high interest rates COL crisis etc. Any unclaimed rights will have to be bought up by the underwriters who will end up with loads of shares (the overhang) which they will need to get rid of. So once the RI is done with they will drip feed them onto the market suppressing the SP further. I got stung on the RI with PFC. That was a 1 share for every 4 @ a 'discounted' price at the time of 115. The SP now is 49p. I'd expect the SP here to drop quite significantly once rights are sold off & allowed to lapse.

One of JPM's funds has had a significant %age invested in NEX for a long time. I remember watching a video of the fund manager being interviewed back in 2020 & he was well pro NEX. The RNS is just them adjusting their holding upwards i think. A good sign but nothing to get over excited about!
