shouldn't be too long , this will bottom out, the big boys will come in & drive the price up again. been 2/3 cycles like that since feb/march

Theoretically, you should only lose out on a RI if you do nothing at all & let your rights lapse. If you take up full rights, there is no dilution you remain in the same position just more heavily invested. If you cash in your nil rights you could gain or lose dependent on the market price at point of sale!

serious question here all. Can someone explain how the cash burn figure is arrived at? for me the Q2 figures said operating loss of 1.9b which is cash burn of 155m per week. i thought that was pretty good. These hedge fuel costs, are they going to be the same in Q3/Q4 then? How far in advance do they hedge? i know different airlines have a different strategy on this.

i wish my timing o here had been as good as on BP. Took my last tranche outta there at 323. Don't think it's sniffed that level since & look at it now!

haha, i'm also an old fart Teddy & i took part in BT's RI in 2001 & did very well. People don't understand how RIs, dilution etc works that is clear & that's what is driving this down. This RI will ultimately bolster IAGs finances & for me it is welcome news. short term pain, long term gain!

Newbie, the share could continue tanking down tomorrow if sentiment is poor. Likewise it could be £4 next week if confirmed vaccine. IAG could go bust & won't be about in 4 years. I'm thinking positive but we have to be acutely aware if you have bought these shares at these bargain price levels you take a risk of losing a lot of your investment. Sorry but that is the name of the game. Personally i made a lot of profit on BP back in June. That has now been swallowed up on paper losses on this one. i take it on the chin as i'll just sit tight here & yes i think 2-3 years time i'll make some money. Better than leaving cash in a bank earning 0.0001% interest in my view!

i can't see this being a 1 for 1 offering but it all depends on the discount they want to give!

this will be announced with the price. As examples BTs offered 3 shares for every 10 held; Whitbread's was 1 for every 2

& for those who think an RI is dire news spare a thought for all the investors in other companies who have had share holdings diluted with no opportunity to invest(e.g. Ted Baker). A RI is at least a fair system whether people agree with it or not. The business can only be stronger with extra cash injection. I'm sure the market will realise this in time!

Whitbread's RI price £15, price on Friday £22. Don't know why everyone getting het up for. This is an opportunity for existing shareholders without as much uncertainty!

but would be no brainer as you'll know rights price before you agree to it so can work out what's best for you!

Deos, what may be an idea for you depending on your situation & nearer the time. you could sell some of what you have at the market rate & use the money to exercise your rights on the remainder. just a thought!

If you have the funds in place the RI is a no brainer really as you can buy the discount shares & sell them on first trading day at profit!

this share is definitely best bargain on ftse, potential upside wise at the moment

i agree especially if positive COVID news in next 3-4 weeks. if all doom & gloom MMs wil short sell, hoover up the panic sellers shares & get loads more on the cheap too. could go either way based on sentiment!

when this was 160 before, everyone was in lockdown & no planes flying at all. things are slightly improved from then i think. oh, & it went up the following day!

Take respite from the fact that everyone's holding in IAG at the moment is at a loss. i suspect some of those peeps bought in at a lot higher level than you too!
