Yes the shorts are increasing. This means they are borrowing more shares to sell into the market. At this point & SP they are losing as these shares are being bought so they need more ammunition to drive the price down. They themselves will have been buying up the panic sellers shares at 17p. That is their long hedge. They are trying to control the SP to their ends that is all.

The shorts here will be well hedged with long positions. It’s a win, win for them.

As far as I can see the new management are focused on getting rid or sorting all this loss making/onerous stuff which Garat & Stamp sat around doing nothing about. That has been the underlying problem dragging this down for the last 4 years. Once these are addressed the SP will react accordingly.

John, they have 10s of 000s of coaches running all over the globe everyday. Do you think all those vehicles are loss making?

£856m in cash & facilities & they going to Wonga.com. Yea right. 5% short is chicken poo in this market. Look at building shares. Most have double figure short positions. Ibstock 15%. All perfectly good companies & the losers are always the panic sellers feeding them!

As I see it, if the US/Iran stuff hadn’t happened the SP would have progressed above 40p naturally after the final results came out. I see a rerate to that type of level quite quickly if the hostilities end. Further progress is likely if the TU update is good & the German deal is all confirmed. The short behaviour here does look a bit bizarre. Strikes me as desperation more than anything to get themselves out in an orderly manner. Time will tell.

Well the market is neither excited or spooked by the RNS. The correct reaction imo. There maybe a positive impact financially for MCG eventually but I still believe this wmata issue will show as a negative on the numbers. I think it’s overall good to be shot of it though & once the picture becomes clearer with Germany the SP should start gaining some real traction. My concern here is how much of the cash is being used up. With all the businesses running they shouldn’t be touching the cash pile.

We Drive U should be sold off. Non core part of the business. I wonder what they could get for it?

It’ll probably get pushed down on that RNS but really it’s not news. The litigation is already known.

I doubt the shorts have any inside knowledge etc. they just play on sentiment. Look at all the building shares. All riddled with shorts. Personally the only one I ever see get it right most of the time is Marshall Wace & they exited here ages ago.

It’ll all come out soon enough I guess. May see tr1 revealing buyer in next day or 2. I can’t see board entertaining 35p though. Iglesias bought a large chunk at around 39p not that long back!

So Dave at 0802 today you stated ‘expect 50 fast & fast run to 100’ now you say takeover at 35. Bit of a gulf in those numbers.

Shorters short only for as long as people keep selling then they reverse tact. It is as simple as that. A low ticker price bears no relation to the actual solvency/viability of a business.

2m sold, 7m bought. SP hasn’t moved at all. Some game playing going on here for sure!

Looking at taking a position here. The drop is based on nothing I can see. Looks like D Shaw is a new short. I’ve seen these guys appear in a few shares recently. Not sure if they’re just opportunist.

The problem as I see it Strike is that with all this war stuff now in the mix, it’s looking highly likely that interest rates will be on the up before too long. Yes on paper all the building shares look like a bargain atm. What is the catalyst that will move them back up? I can’t see anything imminent.
