The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
Been told only way is to go ahead and order basic then write and complain as high up as I can. Crazy, but unfortunately typical after seeing this myself whilst employed with BT for nearly 40 years
Just left BT so still have some contacts...not that it helps
Been trying to get BB setup for last two days and failed. BT saying no fibre available to property and only offering 3-10 meg. However there is a new operational fibre cab 100 meters from the house! I also believe a neighbour has high speed offbthe same pole. Apparently I’m not alone with engineers reporting many other in same position! New cabs installed but nobody knows how to get customers on them!
Oops...was meant to read Openreach is the ONLY company ready
We all know that Openreach isn’t the only company ready and capable to expand the network.
Especially if ofcom decide to actually put customers ahead of spreading the profits between SP's who don’t invest. And by that I include cherry picking cities without a compulsory contribution to rural areas.
Theresa May tried and failed to cherry pick and I hope the same will apply here!
I think they were after the customer base. They paid about £1500 for each one so assume they’ll want to recoup that before further investment.
Somebody’s cut the brakes again!
It’s written in black and white in the contract it’s RPI but it wouldn’t surprise me if it got changed.
Faultsman is right though!
As ofcom has prevented BT from investing due to lack of returns, we have all suffered. Thats shareholders AND the UK.
If ofcom is to continue its policy of 'spreading' the income between BT and its leeches then nothing will change. Either the Government or the leeches will have to invest!
Not rocket science is it?
Divi showed on account first thing Monday as cash but I still can’t withdraw it as says no funds available?
Should have cleared by no will call them tomorrow
Anyone finding the same?
Having worked on MOD data in BT who owns the company makes no difference.
When does this happen?
As I cannot access my cash divi can I assume buybacks won’t happen with blockers until divi payments actually credited in a few days?
Or has it already happened at source regardless?
Divi in account but cannot be withdrawn yet!
If you’ve set it to auto transfer they do this on the 10th of every month.
Can manually override sooner but I expect it will take two to three days for actual divi to clear from BT
Sorry I missed the next year bit.
Yes CEO should be in place by then. Actually thought it was September so could be next week lol.
I’m expecting the pension to get a lot better with a change in life expectancy and the way deficits are calculated, plus interest rates. Rpi ro cpi would be the icing on the cake for BT, but not staff.
New CEO gives ofcom and BT to start a new relationship. Ofcom have had an eye opener with no other SP lining up to deliver rural BB.
All that and billions of profits and sustainable dividend means BT's future going into next year looks very promising. Brix5h1t has already taken a chunk out of BT so directly won’t be a problem. However the hit to personal incomes makes it a worry for customers and cause greater competition.
Well that cursed us..cheers!
Hi Velo. Number one topic will be the next CEO.
BT doing itself no favours whilst the 'sacked' guy is incredulously still at the helm. Would you want a discredited and disgruntled doctor doing an operation on you?
Hi Aus,
Yes, I have my phone switched to use WiFi for calls due to poor mobile signal. Currently not all mobiles support this. But as BT has by far the biggest WiFi coverage that can only be a good thing.
So what’s the charts saying Velo?
Recovered a bit end of day and nowhere near as bad as Voda!
Can see this ending as biggest looser today. Already in second place.
And with NO reason that can be found it’s again disturbing.
Making a mockery of the divi as has now dropped double.
We need a new CEO immediately!
Anyone?
Top five FTSE loosers today?
To an extent landlines Are dead... however, as long as you get your broadband by cable or fibre there will be a rental charge to cover installation and maintenance. Currently with copper ther still needs to be an exchange connection for testing purposes but I think, this can be avoided in future.
There has been a move by Bt and other sp's to provide a combined bill including calls, line rental, tv mobile and BB. This hides the costs and is all customers are interested in. This will absorb and landline losses and not dent revenue imho
