RE: Lithium Price15 Nov 2025 22:08
Hi I can understand why the price is low. Fear is rife. Odd really but all caused by ignorance totally out of control.
In the UK Governments change by election. In many parts of the world by force. Ie a coup. We seem to fear this but why? Ignorance I suggest. Let me explain. In the UK we elect people who generally have no experience of government. Virtually none have been trained to do the job they are elected for. In opposition they tell us how things ought to be done. What they would do in government. The only problem when they get there they often cannot deliver as promised. The uncharitable might suggest in reality they haven't a clue. All politicians need help. Advisors, the Civil Service etc. As an example who has been trained in advance to be Home Secretary. May I suggest no one ever!!! However we are arrogant enough to think we are superior to Countries that change their Government by force. ie a coup. But why? The people that take over believe they are doing for good. Assuming Army personnel, the first people they turn to is the Civil Service, Advisors etc. Money drives the process forward. 9 out of 10 will tell you your tax goes to the Government. Wrong. It's the central bank, in our case the Bank of England. In many ways our system is little different to those that change government by a coup. OK a simplistic view. I have purposely left out more extremist views but what am trying to convey is just because a government changes as a result of a coup is not necessarily any worse than our system. Again a simplistic view but just take a minute to think about it.
With all of this in mind the thought of a change of government in Mali as happened in 2020 or thereabouts is not such a bad thing. Probably for the good. I have lived through a couple of coups in West Africa. The only hindrance to business was a 5pm curfew and ban on international travel for a week or so. In summary as Mali stands at present if the ore to San Pedro goes without a hitch, celebrate. The fear is overdone, for now at least. GLA. Before you rush to contradict this is meant merely to be a simplistic view highlighting a coup need not be feared.
