I suspect new conditions imposed upon developing existing Licences will be sufficient to see these terminated rather quickly. Labour are making no secret of their plans to achieve Net Zero, albeit within impossible timelines. Under the cloak of blaming the Oil Giants for raking in huge profits whilst damaging the planet, they will no doubt try and carry the population with them on closing down the NS asap. Just a shame Ed Milliband hasn’t any strong candidates against him !.

As a Commando on D Day he caught shrapnel across the side of his face, as deeply embedded he never bothered to have it removed but his sense of balance never recovered. One day his walking cane must have slipped and so did he, hitting his head on landing. I still have his Army dagger, it clearly saw action as the missus now uses it for planting seedlings in the greenhouse, and it’s never looked better !.

Was adjusted 01/04/24 by 4% ( CPI’s Dec ‘23 figure ) thus now sits at $74.25 for Oil. Only problem being Gas prices are racing ahead !

This fixation by Labour on green energy is forgetting that Oil remains a key feedstock into so many industries such as plastics, pharmaceuticals and asphalt production, to name a few. It’s beginning to feel that their actions will turn the UK into largely a pure green Service Industry, whether deliberate or otherwise.

Meanwhile Gas prices are nearing Dec ‘23 highs due to Norwegian export issues arising from cracked supply piping. Hopefully this may just remind some that being heavily reliant upon others can lead to problems.

Oh dear, it seems they may have to pay out the surplus they can’t spend on buy backs via a Dividend ( and save on RNS costs ! )

Unrelated but the story of Eyebio, that’s just been acquired by Merck for up to $3 billion, shows the importance of healthy early stage funding. Formed only 3 years ago by a couple of entrepreneurs including Kate Bingham, they raised $130m to progress their Restoret drug (dealing with sight loss) through early trials, the results of which being so impressive that Merck have just pounced and now have to pay top dollar. For BP it’s all the financials !

Also hoping someone will quiz AB on his comment “delivering that growth through transformative acquisitions”….eg. funding / likely timescales / NS - Overseas ? . Won’t get any direct answers but the manner of his response maybe interesting !

PAC. If you look at the published list of ML buys many of the smaller trades are registered daily as sells, you’d think it wouldn’t be that hard to get all daily transactions entered correctly, but clearly they want to keep us confused !

Yes if I was a Centrica / British Gas shareholder I’d now be a little nervous given their overall Tax Rate is only 33% ( 40% if you include the Generator Levy which they don’t treat as a tax ) and having delivered very strong results of late. Seems Labour will also be the party for selective Industries only !

Interestingly Boohoo’s remuneration committee agreed to a pay out those bonuses anyway as it said it felt “that the formulaic outcome is not an accurate reflection of the excellent work carried out during the year”. So basically sod any shareholders dreaming that one day they’ll get a dividend…any surplus cash will only go to management. SH’s are not wanted !
