Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
Will vary by category and country. Different levels of app saturation, competition, commercialisation features and different versions of an app can disrupt things in the data. I won't reveal details but I consulted on a project in the financial services sector in the past. The external platforms that estimate app downloads were so far off what internal company data highlighted. App store stat buckets can also be misleading. This particular client had estimated numbers flagged in the 500k downloads region. In reality, the app had been downloaded almost 8m times throughout its lifecycle.
The only thing I feel pretty confident in believing (based on my own experience) is that true downloads are probably going to be at least 5x higher than what the iOS and Play store numbers have you believe. The more important metric to consider if it ever becomes available is active users.
Fair shout!
Actually, thinking about it you may be right. His recent stuff is more rock than rap. Depends what mix of tunes was being worked on previously.
Perhaps, but what better way for a rap artist to showcase their content to the masses than in a rap themed festival? If the glove fits....
Might even get the long anticipated MGK in on the action Italian!
For those interested, the official crowdfunder BLM donation page is up:

IQ mag also confirm Capital Xtra will be responsible for airing artist interviews across the 3 days

Additionally, this link (published an hour ago) also suggests the full lineup has not yet been revealed and more acts will be announced shortly:

For what it's worth, I think it's a solid, diverse lineup. I'm personally familiar with 11 of the newly listed acts and looking forward to seeing the likes of Lady Leshurr, S1MBA, Rushy, Stefflon Don, Digga D, Asher D, Big Narstie, Yungen and Darkoo. When you factor in the repeat artists from 2019, we're talking almost 20 artists that I believe will be a credible draw within the grime/hip-hop/rap scene. Let's not forget, it is both necessary and desirable to showcase lesser known emerging talent to appeal to the younger generation who are going to be most interested and influenced by this style of event.
I just wonder whether some of the less enthusiastic posts are more the result of a lack of understanding/exposure to what's relevant in 2020? Shouldn't let our own personal tastes and bias interfere in supporting the event before it's even started.

The available social numbers don't really say much for MVR, but the biggest takeaway is in JoJo's YouTube viewing figures. In the 4 days building up to last night's show, her average daily numbers increased 3-fold from about 80k video views to 250k video views. MVR are obviously partly responsible for building that increased exposure and I assume there will be some substantial incremental impact on app downloads as a result. For me this is further evidence of why it's important not to go too soon with the campaigns for Wireless.
The acts will almost certainly be announced before Tuesday, creating more of a buzz days ahead of the event. What I suspect will then happen (and where most marketing value will be gained) is that they will probably rely on live video snippets, interviews and potentially further support from the featured artists to get people engaged, talking, sharing, downloading the app or going to the YouTube channel on the day itself. IMO live video is going to be far more effective than a few early awareness posts in making things go viral over the 3 days.
Nelly has made some bangers and has also been announced this week as an act for Livenation's US drive-in shows. Would be a great act to bring on board.
Albert - think this is one for you! Looks like they are also pushing the drive in events in 3 US cities: Indianapolis, Nashville and St. Louis next month.

I'm still hopeful we get involved in this after Wireless.
Good to get more clarity on the expected length of a contract with an artist. Might not reflect the situation for all artists but at least it's directional for PI's.
Let's agree to disagree there Opti! They're still working on laying the foundations and erecting the pillars!
There's a good old African proverb doing the rounds at the moment on LinkedIn. "Those who want to go fast, go it alone! Those who want to go far, do it together"
It's clear which path MelodyVR are taking in response to their strategic and competitive challenges. They have been building all along from what I have seen in the last 2 years. IMO, the fundamentals are decent with zero debt. They clearly have work to do around pricing, promotions and certain processes, but developments around other areas of the marketing mix have been both steady and encouraging (product, people, place, portfolio and partnerships). Rome wasn't built in a day, especially in a new market segment where it takes time to develop infrastructure, technology and adoption! This is where they are dependent on bigger multinationals to drive the agenda.
I'm of the opinion board balance is important, but I would support others in saying if people are not convinced by the team, the strategy or prepared to wait for the gains then they should consider following COdey's direction to exit on the next couple of spikes. He's pretty transparent with his intentions and has a clear trading strategy that works for him which could help others in the group who are less confident in their investment. There could be better investment options out there suited more towards your patience levels and risk appetite. Lots of market corrections and opportunities out there right now which may get you where you want to be much faster.
Irrational gloom for gloom's sake isn't really helping anyone.
Such a high quality gig tonight. Very impressed.
Or a RNS on a US Telco deal.
The Cypress Hill PR has been great tbh Optimist, best of the bunch to date. Features in NME, Pollstar, MusicWeek, DJMag, IQ-Mag, Music Universe, Rolling Stone, Live For Live Music, Song Kick, UPI, Jambase, Vents Magazine aswell as the usual social media platforms, various blogs/radio sites and Cypress Hill/Melody websites. I'm definitely tuning in tonight. Will be nice to see a live event with a few more songs (9 in total from what I've read).
Agree Italian. There's clearly a process that needs to be followed to discuss artist appetite, availability, health & safety, terms etc in the aftermath of the main event being cancelled. Just need to let them crack on and do their day job so it all comes together. This is a time where patience is required. Things will unfold when they need to.
My thoughts exactly Italian. Car tickets alone will surely be too small a base for them not to consider a digital revenue stream.
