New venture thought process.....12 Aug 2020 14:33
I'm speedily typing as I brainstorm what I'm researching and looking into so please forgive me if I'm totally off the mark and get things mixed up but here are my thoughts from something I've just read over and from the latest RNS:
Uskmouth requires 1m MT of pellets per annum to supply 2 x 110MW converted units. SAE contract with N&P was to take nearly a million tonnes of Subcoal pellets per annum - this contract alone means that in addition to the Teesside plant, N+P would need to build and commission a further four Subcoal production facilities.
"Teesside Subcoal production plant will consume 250 000 tonnes-per-annum of construction and industrial (C&I) waste to produce 187 500 tonnes of "Subcoal" energy pellets" - this is obviously nowhere near enough, hence the requirement to build another 4 production plants in the UK.
RNS: Uskmouth Power Station Conversion Project Update:
"Having adjusted for current expected COVID disruptions, Atlantis has determined, in consultation with stakeholders and potential financiers, that the project will now be developed in two phases. The initial phase will comprise the conversion of the first 110MW generation unit at the power station ("Phase 1"), and upon successful commissioning of Phase 1 it is intended that a second unit ("Phase 2") will be converted to increase the total net output from the station to 220MW."
By bringing one 110MW unit on-line they have halved the required production requirement of Subcoal pellets and therefore don't require the 4 additional production plants to be built (This could easily have brought untold delays to the Uskmouth Project as each additional production plant would/could have had problematic delays)
RNS: Further re Fuel Supply JV with N+P Group
"The AIM-traded firm said NPA Fuels would primarily be involved in the marketing, PRODUCTION and delivery of waste-derived fuel pellets to converted coal-fired power stations throughout the UK, in particular the Uskmouth project.
Money raised in the placing to allow newly formed NPA Fuels to build possibly 2 production plants to facilitate the required 500K MT of pellets required for 1 x 110MW unit at Uskmouth, thereby allowing SAE to bring Uskmouth online quicker?
"Further, Atlantis has engaged data centre development specialist TechRE to explore options to locate edge and hyperscale data centres within the Uskmouth power station development envelope. It is proposed that power could be delivered through a private wire network under a long-term power purchase agreement to owners and operators of these data centres built onsite at Uskmouth".
Phase 1 unit supplies the data centres and revenue from this is funding for additional production plants to be built for Phase 2 or other power plant conversions?
