Well, what a cracking day yesterday was! A very welcomed bit of news which, although expected to come at some point, was exceptionally good and the SP was justifiably rerated to reflect it. Pretty much Everywhere I looked yesterday, the news was published in the respective media page; simply typing in ‘Hana Financial Uskmouth’ did the trick!” on google! If anyone comes across an article in the online Sunday Times Business section over the weekend then please post link on here. Oh, I also opened an ISA in my share account in preparation for when SIMEC takes me over CGT!! Ha!

Sparta - true. I always knew that would be the case when a significant change in SP came. I used to be one of those 'traders' but decided to make this my longer term investment. Like I've said multiple times, it's only hindsight that tells you you made a good or bad decision. In this case, I think I've missed today's peak but as I never planned on selling, I shouldn't let it bother me but its still painful watching hundreds of pounds (on paper) disappear! I could have quite easily sold at 22p and then kicked myself when it went to 28p!

It gets a bit more real when you keep checking your account balance and seeing it dropping a back a little. Fantastic gains made here in a short space of time but I do see the bigger picture so I need to be strong and hold for the greater gains - its only hindsight that tells you you missed the peak or sold too early! ha!

How? I need layman’s terms unfortunately as this is uncharted territory for me!.....Never has to worry about capital gains on shares before, ha!

I invested £2500 in June this year and commenced this awesome journey on a number of shares which now sees my portfolio approaching 5 figures! As capital gains tax is set at £12,300 - what can I do to avoid this as I bought through an online account, not an ISA. Im not planning on selling in the near term but also don’t want to sell and then have to pay tax on profit. Cheers in advance

Even as a day trade at 20p this morning this is a fantastic rise so you can imagine the temptation to sell (if not already) to those who bought in at the placement price. Only Hindsight will tell me where the peak was today. It may have already happened but I’ll wait to see what next week brings after the weekends media attention

What a fantastic RNS. Particularly like this from TC: “This agreement with Hana reflects the high level of international interest our world-leading conversion project has and we believe that this is a stepping stone to further conversion opportunities across Asia and indeed globally."

So glad I came across this company- it was the JV RNS for the fuel pellets that caught my eye. There wasn’t much background reading needed to see this was a share that was only ever going to go in one direction after the 12p placing!

It’s all coming together. Assuming the N&P unit is situated in close proximity to the Waste Knot plant (can anyone clarify location?), the Teeside Waste Knot “facility is situated close to the port on a brownfield site owned by freight logistics firm AV Dawson, and the resulting fuel pellets will either be transported by rail or exported via ship, the firm explained”. With SIMEC owning the Bird Port Dock in Newport, this looks like the logical transport method to the Uskmouth Power Plant.

Tees Valley already hosts a facility run by Dutch alternative fuel firm N+P Group which produces higher grade SRF/RDF pellets, known as Subcoal (see letsrecycle.com story). These pellets are produced from residual non-recyclable waste and used as fuel in energy-intensive industries.
