Line 20: UPS have stated that the Secondary Treated Sewage Water that comes form Nash Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is expected to be 3,218,408 litres (3,218m3) of treated water, which will be utilised in their cooling process.

"The W2 discharge is what discharges to the River Usk from Julian's Pill. Julian’s Pill itself is a heavily modified watercourse with little natural flow. The continuous nature of the flow is due to the permitted discharge from the STW."

The Water Balance diagram details the TOTAL amount of on site water and its use. Surely the run off to the River Usk will naturally be much more than the volume of treated water that comes from Nash Sewage Works, especially taking into account annual rain fall in Wales?

Anyone else have a different opinion or explanation?

I’ve had a look through the tables you are questioning and have found some of the answers you are looking for. With ref to your query regarding Urea on Line 21 - if you scroll to the end of the column you will see a note that says, “Urea usage based on RJM projections ref. e-mail ....... per unit per year - so I would assume the answer is ‘per unit’. Regarding Line 35, could be a simple typo and meant to read 283, not 383 as the next 2 columns reference 283 tonnes per unit? As for Line 20 - I need to do some more research.

I did mate - RecyclingRishi - something about the Teesside plant and another company who dry the pellets? It was his/her first post so I always take more of an interest when its on a forum I'm in and ponder why they took the time to open an account to post their post

I would like to think so, given this plant will produce 100,000 tpa and UPS require 900,000 tpa, hence the requirement for 3-4 more manufacturing plants to be built. UPS site plans also indicate 4 storage silos to be erected. I wonder if everyone is waiting for the variation order of the permit before the additional plants commence construction? It seems a hell of a lot is resting on the NRW permit: not just UPS but the jobs it will also create in Newport and around the country at the other plant locations. OHS

On one hand I'm frustrated at the SP's daily decline but at the same time I am very tempted to deposit some funds in my account and buy some more. I hate to say it but if I get the chance to buy sub 20 I'll probably double my current investment......I just hope my rose tinted specs aren't too rose tinted....OHS

I think this was always the case oldtramp. My understanding is that the subcoal fuel pellet was developed as an alternative to coal and SIMEC contracted MHPS to design the burners for it to be utilised in existing coal fired power plants (Uskmouth). Infrastructure is already in place at UPS as opposed to plants being altered to burn gas or incinerator plants being built to burn general waste. This is why Uskmouth is so important and literally on a global scale! Once up and running and proven, the global take on of this concept would be.......(fill in this space with the most mind blowing statement you can think of!) China wants to be carbon neutral by 2060 so we have 40 years to continue to develop, improve and find alternative methods which will move towards that and although UPS does leave a carbon footprint, it is a step forward to replacing fossil fuel consumption, and I’ll say it again, on a global scale! Absolutely tremendous and very exciting to be on the cusp of ‘the mother of all corrections’ as TC would say! OHS
