No I heard something like that too. The host declined to put my question of what the cash balance is right now (which was the first question) that is 'slightly ahead of expectations.' For a scientist Arnab seems almost allergic to numbers. Seemed a perfectly reasonable question which just about every other presenter declared without having to be asked. So I was pleasantly surprised to see this as one of the best risers today of companies that joined the show. But then it had started almost 2p below the last placing. I think the most encouraging thing for me and what persuaded me to give it another go yesterday was the dynamic investing duo of David and Monique repurchasing their top slice even though it is below a notifiable holding. I would rather see some solid meaningful figures than 'excitement and robustness, but I suppose if we knew that the sp would be nearer 30p'.

I know they have a huge automated dairy farm on the Isle of Man where Mellon actually lives (sometimes) and where ANIC is based (for tax purposes). There are several automated herds in the UK of around 7000+ cows, and they are even bigger in the USA. In our valley in Kent there used to be 40 dairy herds. There are now just 2 herds of about 100 cows. One farmer uses most of his milk to make cheese and sells milk through his own small farm shop. I can see this kind of farm continuing assuming he can sell it on or get a manager in when he retires shortly. I am staggered at the level of dairy allergies the population appears to suffer from. I love good home made cheese from farms from goats, sheep and cows. Frankly it will be no loss to see the slabs of fat that supermarkets pass off as cheese disappear.
I don't know what scale your farm is but I think it is the big dairy industry Jim expects to go although not quietly. Neither of the farms in the valley could be described as much more than a hobby/chosen way of life. Their income is mostly derived from other means. Its the same situation with meat. We don't expect farm animals to disappear, but there will be gradual transition . We just stayed at a small farm in Devon of three generations. All the animals are gone just doing b&b. So its happening in the uk already, mainly for economic reasons and children not wishing to take farms over from their parents. No disrespect to you and I hope you have a longh and prosperous farming life, but add competition from a completely new way of producing food and as I mentioned before Moore's/Moo's law is going to be a rapid tipping point.

He'd did say he couldn't talk current numbers because they are in the closed period before results next month which they have more or less told us in last update. Sounds like they are extremely busy.
What a great team. I know people have knocked it in the passed but that is an impressive board. I like Higgins, down to earth hard worker. Interesting talk about the size of industry, basically an unknown. This is a long term investment for me.

Good presentation. Debt free company with world at feet I would think. Quite a high pe but thats what you get with substantial growth forecast

Pretty decent pitch from Jim Mellon as you would expect. He predicts a total cessation in dairy produce within 10 years (commercially I would assume), 50% of meat consumed will be cell meat within next ten years. The placing money should be fully invested in next 9 months. He calls this food revolution as the equivalent of the dial up period of the internet. You know the one where you logged on, hit the connect button, went for a wee, put the washing on, serviced the car, made a cup of tea and came back to see if BT had managed to make a connection. Gawd I hope its not that bad. An interesting point he made as to ANIC's preference for cell meat over plant based meat was better protection for intellectual property. I would think start up casts and regulation would also be a massive barrier. I think we are well past thematic stage freshmatt. That was the $900 burger stage. Chicken cell meat is already available in some countries , fish cell meat will be available in under a year from now. This is what Jim meant by his reinterpretation of Moore's Law to Moo's law. This is accelerating more rapidly than perhaps we realise.

There are several companies presenting. SWg second last I think

I'm already in both.ETF FOGB has not gone up anywhere near as much as ANIC. It was launched last August and currently up about 25%. I think Anic has more exposure and possibly specialisation with cell meat. I think FOGB also have a fish cell meat company, but a much wider spread of investment than ANIC. About one company they both invest in, so ou can see how big the industry has got already. They had a guy on the radio yesterday saying overfishing has been completely overplayed and that there are billions of fish in the oceans. Didn't mention the total wipeout of cod stock in Newfoundland and despite attempts to replenish, no success after 30 years, or the massive European trawlers that rake up sea beds, destroying ecosystems whilst catching, gutting, processing and canning fish before returning to port, nor the diseased crowded fish farms. All completely unchallenged by the BBC.

Shop! Sorry, yes erm profit increase down to a capital raise of 46 million earlier this year or was it end of last year. basically three or four acquisitions around the country , Bedford, Cambridge Glasgow and somewhere else, so all adding to revenue and profit. So pretty good so far

Hi all. Just had few days away, Look forward to webinar. I liked the update I thought there were some significant positive news after the all ready confirmed 'inline with expectations.' Baring in mind also this was for first quarter. 6 million debt reduction. Rather strange comparison than revenue being better than the whole of 2018. Generally steaming ahead. No idea why Stockopedia so sniffy about it. They seem to like to just churn through the same old stuff most of the time.
