Agree Melon does tend to spurt out absurdities, but that is his job ramping. I dont think there is much doubt that Blue Nalu is one of the more advanced businesses in the portfolio. It has some pretty big backers. I too heard about product being ready for market last year. Maybe there has been some small selective outlets trialing their cell meat. Doesn't appear to me that they will be fully scaled up for full commerciality till 2027. I think part of the ramping is to try and shock the world into recognising that this is happening but also accepting that this alternative production of food is necessary and for the greater good of mankind, animal kind and the planet. If presented as a damp squibb it likely to go off as a damp squibb. They have made a lot of noise and attracted the attention of many of the big boys like nestle, birdseye, mitsibushi etc.
It requires a massive amount of investment and scaling up . There is no point in doing that if they are thinking of quietly coming in through the back door. They need to be on a charge and stampede through the front door. Comments like dairy will be extinct in ten years are a bit tongue in cheek. But have you seen how the price of cheese and dairy products have rocketed recently. How the ailes of cows milk are rapidly reducing, whilst being replaced by many more alternatives. There is already a massive shift to plant based food in supermarkets and there is already at parity for alternative protein source.
If you have not looked at the Blue Nalu website I highly recommend you do and sign up. Probably wont get samples in uk yet but this company will be massively profitable eventually and possibly more quickly than companies like apple and amazon. I would imagine some of the bigger investors are quite keen to exercise warrants to pump more money into Anic before the warrants run out. It is going to dilute the share base but as pointed out at the time this is actually value added to the company to take large stakes in companies they already own. In the last two years they have increased holdings from 17 to around 27 from memory. Am sure someone will correct me if wrong. So yes this is an enormous deal . The old guard would be very happy if quietly and timidly tip toe onto the world stage but this is about knocking the old guard out of the park.
