I'm confident they have a good team and we will get over this frustrating annoyance eventually, which should not detract from the future growth prospects of the company. Talk on news this morning of flying in foreign university students on special charter flights. That could be lucrative. Only be about half a university fee to fly in much needed foreign students. I believe they pay a lot more than the standard £9,000 per year for British students. Seems endless possibilities opening up.

So have come to the conclusion why spread out into lots of different shares going nowhere or backwards when you can just buy into one outperforming? Follow the trend and average up. Obviously if the economy goes tits up, which it already has to a great extent there will be few that benefit, the rich of course. I think a lot of them liked having their own jets as some kind of tax dodge as well as prestige, but Lewis Hamilton led the way out getting rid of his 85 million loophole. Good point Spike. My son has just completed on his first house purchase yesterday and pays no stamp duty anyway. I guess a line has to be drawn somewhere. These things are never fair. I think the tax holiday is reportedly covering properties up to 500k.
I can't imagine chains are going to fall apart if they miss out on nil stamp duty having spent all the costs associated with house purchasing and they would have been expecting to pay anyway. Presumably house purchases still to complete might get exemption. Not sure if a chancellor has yet made a retrospective tax rebate in a budget, but these are not normal times. He will need to concentrate on the stability of jobs and ability to pay mortgages. Also will house prices drop by more than the stamp duty anyway? Yesterday was ugly and the day before. Its so hypocritical. What major supermarket, retail outlet can look you in the eye and say they have not exploited cheap labour. Which of the big supermarkets has not exploited British farmers and forced them into potential bankrupting deals over the last 30 years. There was a guy on the radio today from Leicester explaining that a lot of low paid workers don't complain because their wages are topped up by the government its catch 22. Great, sort it out, but sort it out everywhere not just for a token scapegoat.

Popped into the new food hall in Dover to grab some lunch on the hoof. Probably been open a year now, but its more than a year that I last spent any money in M& S. The food hall was much smaller than I was expecting, but that quiche, and I don't normally eat quiche, was to die for. Broccoli, tomato and cheese, properly seasoned and we ate it cold by the sea. Unfortunately its going to take a lot more than a quiche to turn this around. Their wines are excellent I remember and possibly the real reason for the visit. I didn't really take a look at the bakery side. The meat looked ok, and I like their loch salmon fillets but couldn't find any. Pretty quiet really. I do find it distinctly odd that they would close the store in Deal with all the DFL's who lap up a food hall, and open a brand new one in Dover . Still obviously they did their market research. Seriously , sack whoever was responsible for that decision.
