Asimpleinvestor: what makes you think “the diamonds” are in a bank vault? You say it as if it’s a fact. They haven’t been seen for more than a decade, during which time Zimbabwe has been governed by two unprincipled ex-terrorist gangsters, one of them married to a greedy womanp with a great fondness for diamonds and a diamond-cutting business in Hong Kong, plus diplomatic immunity which enabled her to travel with lots of baggage that could not be examined at international
borders. It’s no surprise there’s been no progress on them: the President is 83, he’d doubtless prefer the issue to pass on to his eventual successor.
It is, of course, possible that there’s a bag of diamonds on a shelf in the RBZ vault. There’s no evidence of it, though. Vast needs the money they represent. There’s clearly no “Swiss investor” and no one is likely to lend them any more. You’re looking at an imminent massive, highly dilutive share issue of some kind. And while I agree that investors should take responsibility for their decisions, there are laws against the kind of organised support operations that seem to accompany share issues in many AIM companies. Sadly, no one can be bothered to enforce them. Company managements who wilfully mislead investors with unsupported claims and over-optimistic forecasts should be sanctioned.
