Hearing multiple reports in my industry (construction) that demand for accoya is through the roof. Contractors and specialist joiners really adopting the material as their preferred timber for any external joinery. Supply bottlenecks causing a problem, similar to many materials, but unlike other materials there is nothing else on the market that competes with the longevity of accoya. This is only going from strength to strength and looking forward to seeing the numbers on the next report
I do think there is likely to be an arms race of sorts for natural resources as we become more electrified as a society and that can only be good for miners like Glencore. I see this as a cash cow and safe easy ride for the next few years so happy to keep building a stake in my SIPP.
If anyone’s interested in a little side bet, check out TGR, they’ve got an investors meeting coming up and on the back of a breakthrough graphene/alu composite that could be an alternative to copper, particularly where weight is key ...thinking electric planes!

More reasons to buy - the FT reporting Glencore's chief saying copper prices are going to need to rise 50% to meet global demand. TGR composite developing at just the right time.
I don't see the price of copper dropping in the near time, and the longer term with the increase in electrification as we move away from fossil fuels the demand is only going to creep. Although I hate to cross recommend, I have taken a small position in TGR as they've recently developed a new composite graphene-aluminium material that achieves and improves on many of the performance characteristics of copper. I don't see it ever replacing copper, or competing with JLP, but I do think demand for copper is going to outstrip supply as the world moves towards further electrification and anything that has the potential to offer an alternative is worth exploring.
New invested here, I’ve been with JLP for years and noticed the RNS from TGR about copper by chance. What a compelling business opportunity they have developed and potential to radically disrupt the traditional copper business. It also sounds incredibly undervalued given the potential here, and looking forward to the investor presentation on the 12th
You actually think Boris really believed in leaving the EU? Look at Hansard and all his speeches pre referendum, he was always pro-Eu membership. He just knew that appearing to the conservative right would stand him in good stead for any future leadership challenge. Little did he or anyone know that vote leave would actually do the unthinkable and win.
It tends to go silvery grey colour after a few years, but the grain isn't as interesting as say oak or western red cedar. There's a really interesting cladding system that James Latham are promoting that chars the outside surface of accoya to give a jet black crackled appearance. Architect's love it, not particularly innovative, the Japanese have been doing it for centuries, but you have the benefit of accoya wood.
I guess it autocorrected Sapele to Spell? but in terms of cost difference, i'd say roughly 20% premium over Sapele, although that is narrowing every year. Given the maintenance and longevity of Sapele we strongly recommend clients go for it.
It is a fantastic company to be invested in, I specify this product in my day job nearly everyday. If I’m specifying external doors and windows they are invariably in accoya and more joiners shops Are using accoya as the default over sapele. With the Hull plant opening next year I can see further growth and a clear commitments to the UK market
Strong construction output data for month of November announced today so perhaps that has had some effect. That and a Brexit deal sounds close. All speculation
With all the focus on vaccines at the moment, it is interesting to read that the WHO have recently said that there is no evidence of immunity from covid19. I'm not an immunologist, but I thought the basic premise of a vaccine is based on antibodies to give some immunity. If no immunity how can a vaccine work effectively? It makes me think SNG001 is our best hope at combating this virus.
Given the amount of coverage this is getting on Fox news in America and the recent poor results on other drugs it won't be long before a takeover, this market cap is small change for American big pharma
Absolutely Newboy, that sentence, 'The treatment had a profound positive effect on me', is going to get picked up by national media. A positive story about a drug working, just what we need to hear!
The doctor involved has been directing various trials at the hospital to test different drugs, including hydroxychloroquine. For him to come out and write a blog about SNG001 and its success is a huge win for Synairgen. He will have seen the effects of other drugs being trialled and has recommended SNG001 over all of them!
