A little off topic but here goes.....
Ispy, Maximus, your recent posts describe exactly why there needs to be a conversation within the general working community about the need for seven day working.
Hospitals, emergency services, supermarkets and retail, even my local vet plus countless others all provide a seven day service with some providing 24/7 cover, so don't you think that the seven day service should be extended to service providers such as banking services, GPs, local authorities and much more. Perhaps even schools should be providing a seven day service in order to fit in with the needs of modern family life? Bizarrely we are in a situation where staffing in general is an issue which is causing local business to shut but it's a rare occurrence and won't always be that way so this could create more jobs, generate more taxes and keep the money go round spinning.

PS, I forgot to mention that some of the agreements called in have a four week notification period but others won't take effect for another year which may play into the hands of the CWU.

AngerSharkz, I have just been reading the letter (22/9/22) that Dave Ward received from Simon Thompson. It outlines parts of several agreements that the business intend to call in due to the recent industrial action and in line with the framework of the agreements.
Personally, I think that it would be difficult for the CWU to argue most of the points raised in the letter however from an employee perspective the fact remains that both RM UK and GLS have been making decent profits since Rico Back departed but this opportunity has been squandered by the BoD to invest this unexpected windfall more wisely.
On the upside, this could be a fantastic opportunity for anyone thinking about buying back in but judging the bottom is going to be tricky. Someone posted that FOMO would eventually take over and I have to agree.

Redceo, back in the mid '80s, I had a line manager who would write memos for the notice board using an early version of Microsoft Word. It had a spell checker and thesaurus but he ignored them and printed out the memos regardless. The staff would take great delight in correcting his bad punctuation, grammar and spelling mistakes (think Life of Brian) however he was happy in the knowledge that his memos had been read. Job done.

As a couple of posters here have alluded to, It's fairly clear that the BoD plan is going to schedule. Give a huge amount back to the shareholders, award yourself and your work colleagues a nice bonus despite not meeting your targets, then antagonise the workforce so that they will go out on strike and you have a perfect scenario to drive the SP down in the hope that a whale will swallow up the cheap shares.
What I can't understand is why the shorters aren't getting involved in a bigger way given that the SP has dropped 64p in the last two weeks.

So, back of a fag packet calculation... Simon busts the union and gets a big bonus.... Kretinsky offers 330p per share and buys out RMG... Existing shareholders are relieved that their losses have been offset... Kretinsky secures reduced USO down to two days a week... 50,000 delivery posties sacked... Everyone's a winner baby.... That's the truth...

Ispy, I'm glad that I'm not the only one who understands the importance of the USO. Unfortunately Maximus seems to think that it's fairly irrelevant with comments such as

According to Google, the closing price at 17:07 was up to 213.38p, so up by 4.2% on the LSE closing price?

simx, I am in agreement that VESA will be given the nod but with terms and conditions applied especially regarding the USO which would fit in with a "levelling up" agenda.
Whether or not VESA like those terms and conditions.... who knows?
The Government, especially the Tories, certainly don't want to end up back in control of any public utilities as they have spent the best part of forty years ensuring that will be somebody else's problem. So no new reservoirs built since 1992, limited gas storage facilities, decommissioning power stations.....
I thought that the idea of Brexit was that the UK would have more control of its destiny.....lol

I have also been reading about Kretinsky's 27% holding in West Ham United that cost £150m. Apparently he was in the know about Premier League TV rights of £10bn, so £500m per club leaving him with 27% of £500m (£135m) so his 27% holding effectively cost £15m.

Incidentally, it wasn't thinking about another investor ousting VESA but more in line with another mutually beneficial investor joining forces and taking RMG in a pincer movement thus bypassing the other shareholders and having a combined majority shareholding.

My understanding is that if a take over bid is mounted, then the offer has to be equal to the bidders highest purchase over the preceding year or "fair value" (whatever that may be) and the shareholders get to vote.
But what if VESA were to hold 27% in a couple of months time when the review is completed and the SP is still potentially low (say 200p) and they then sit on the their hands. In the meantime another investor (or investors) then purchases a combined total of 24%+ so together their combined investment is 51%? That could be a very interesting scenario?

So, as I read it, the rules in order for VESA to acquire a stake of 25% or more are that an NSI review has to take place. Once the Business Secretary has given the all clear it would then be possible for VESA to acquire enough shares to take them to, say, 27%. As I understand the situation, once the 30% figure is breached then an offer has to be made, which presumably would then go back to the shareholders at an EGM?
Am I correct so far?

AngerSharkz, how is wolvesposty making you money? He is still going to work and doing his hours but the SP is still falling. I put most of the blame on Williams, Thompson, Jeavons and uncle Vladimir.
