babis, these are engineering managers, mostly located in mail centres however if there are vacancies in deliveries then they may be able to put in for these when their posts become redundant?
I don't know if it's still true but the adage used to be that managers were pretty much interchangeable.

Salve Gluteus, the subject of administration came up because Dowsie asked the question. My personal take on administration is that it would be the very last resort in a long chain of events so probably more chance of Harry Maguire becoming a top class defender.
The reason your moniker was even mentioned is because you have accused me of "hiding behind" this piece of legislation, however until it is altered by Parliament (and I'm not saying that it carnt be), it stands in law.

JB, I may be incorrect regarding my comment about DOMs being non operational, however when the last management VR exercise was carried out, our local DOMs were complaining that they had only been offered one year's salary and not two which is offered to operational managers.
I was talking to our engineering union rep yesterday and he told me that the engineering managers last week had been informed that their posts were being withdrawn "in the very near future". Sounds as though they will be utilised throughout the strikes and then discarded? I also hear that something similar is being talked about with regards to the fleet managers but only hearsay at the moment.

The reason that picket lines look empty is because under the current restrictions there can only be six employees on a picket line per workplace. There's also a raft of measures that successive Tory administrations have brought in to make it very difficult for trade unions to strike. Another one is "wearing or displaying incorrect strike action information on placards or clothing" so for instance the last couple of days have been about terms and conditions so it would be illegal to display a placard saying that the strike was about pay.

Ispy, these are operational manager posts. Delivery office managers are categorised as non-operational. This makes a lot of difference when VR is on the table.

AngerSharkz, these are CMA/UNITE management posts not CWU represented grades jobs. I get your drift but perhaps Thompson has realised that he doesn't have enough posties to start making cuts from the bottom of the pyramid so he needs to start from the top? I would imagine that if they asked for management volunteers for redundancy then there wouldn't be a shortage as there was a huge surplus when they announced the 2,000 manager redundancies a couple of years ago and quite a few missed out.

I have just received notification that managerial redundancies have been announced. Only about thirty at the moment but it could be the beginning of the end.....

AngerSharkz, if I was running a small business, or any sized businesses for that matter, that relied upon couriers, I would certainly have a contingency plan especially in the knowledge that there has already been three separate strike action days.
Sure public support may drop but given that we are where we are then I think it's worth pursuing. If we back down now it's a race to the bottom and the service will be run into the ground anyway.

I wouldn't call a few bad reviews out of a population of 68 million people the end of the world. There will probably be less complaints than when we are back to work! As for the one that ordered contact lenses before realising that we were on strike.....presumably they weren't able to read a paper or tablet?
NHS appointment letters? I seem to remember before the pandemic that several posters on here saying that it wasn't important and who waits in for a letter anyway....lol.
Notwithstanding the NHS usually send out appointment letters weeks in advance. If it's really important they will phone or text.
It's funny how the public all clapped for key workers like the NHS however this soon changed when they couldn't see their GP or get a hospital referral. So it's okay..... until it affects them? How did they think that we would protest.....a couple of Morris dances in the car park at lunchtime....lol
Personally, the train strike affected me this weekend, however, I did read the news, I did review my travel plans and I did get to where I wanted to be.
