As yet, we do not know the exact wording of the challenge from RM so it is difficult to say if their challenge is viable.
If the challenge is that union members were coerced into voting (either way) then would this stand up in court if you could prove that the general public were coerced into voting (either way) in a local or general election.
Lastly, there are 3 Unite members (managers) in my office that didn't get to vote on the pay rise because they didn't receive a ballot paper. My understanding is that every member has to receive a ballot paper otherwise it is void.

If ballot papers were intercepted at the delivery offices and CWU members were forced to vote in the offices then the DOM/PIC or manager should have stepped in and cautioned or diclsciplined their employees so maybe they should be held to account also?

So just to clarify.
Just over 81,000 CWU members voted in favour of IA, that is over 60% of the workforce (excluding management). Even if the 24% who didn't vote had voted NO then it would still have been a majority decision, in fact a bigger mandate than the 2016 EU Referendum where only 17.4 million people voted in favour which is nowhere near 50% of the UK over 18 population.
If the government's rules on union ballots was applied to the EU Referendum then the result would have been declared void.
The CWU vote was a postal vote. Voting papers were sent to home addresses. None were sent to mail centres or delivery offices so if OPGs were completing their ballot papers at work then that was out of personal choice.

I work in a mail centre which has quite a lot of older employees, many of whom have 30+++ years in RM and are collecting their NRA 60 pension. Some are even getting their NRA65 pension as well as their state pension and any service pension.
The general mood is that they are quite happy to walk out on a legitimate strike and some are actually planning their days around any possible action (such as Christmas shopping).

Wolves, I have received an email from RM saying that OPGs will forfeit 3% of their bonus for every strike day in the build up to Christmas.

Wolves, any member can opt out of the CWU political fund at any time. If you do then your membership is cheaper.
It's also worth remembering that CWU members from other companies such as BT, Openreach and EE pay less than RM.

Derek, if frontline staff could negotiate a better pay deal then I would want to be in their union.....but wait, I have been since 1979...lol

It's a bit confusing really because if you don't wish to be a member (it's not a closed shop) you are still unable to negotiate your own Ts&C's because of collective bargaining so you are stuck with whatever the CWU negotiate.

Minimum wage; you've got to have a baseline otherwise employers will try to exploit their workforce.
