Scampthedog, your comments regarding the Ying and Yang between RM and CWU are very true and have been for many years.
For all it's flaws, the CWU has been the trusted voice of RM employees and over the years has striven to increase the T's&C's of postal workers. It is also the only trade union that RM will negotiate with therefore it is crucial that both sides work together.

POD, a couple of months ago I predicted £2.50 to £2.60 by Easter so put me down for £2.40 on the 31st of December. Of course I am optimistic that I will be proved completely wrong and the SP will be much higher :-)

Fruitster, RM were willing to change to an all electric fleet in London's congestion charge area, however I am led to believe by a very reliable internal source that this was put in hold due to the lack of charging points and also a concern from the electricity suppliers that they currently may not be able to meet demand at peak times, especially as TFL were also planning to increase their electric fleet.

Wolves, you posted a while ago about how the CWU vote was not secret because the ballot papers had id numbers. Well the general election postal vote is even more traceable. First you cast your vote on a slip containing your unique id number then you put it in envelope B. Envelope B then goes into envelope A along with your signed statement which also shows your unique id number, name and date of birth!

In the interests of equality, the next labour leader should be someone from the LGBT community. Perhaps gender neutral/fluid is the way to go?

Mytton, my 18 year old and my 21 year old are going to vote green. I think that the youth have a different set of priorities to us crusties.

So total divided payments of around £1.35bn? That's 75% of what RB has just borrowed for the parcels transformation programme.

JB, one could argue that as the 913 SIP shares were "free" then their value was zero? We haven't "lost out" because each share has yielded £1.36 in dividend payments since July 2014.
I also think that it would be impossible to enforce just for CWU members only.

States "the value of your shares will be guaranteed and no CWU members will lose out financially".
I suspect that this only applies to the 913 SIP "colleague shares" and that any purchased as a corporate sponsored nominee will be excluded.

Wolves, point taken. Staff militancy does seem to be an "outdoor" thing as "indoors" staff tend to be a fairly happy bunch. Obviously we do not need to work beyond our allocated hours because the next shift take over.

How is your DOM getting on with the cost savings? Does he keep the workforce informed?

JB, the problem and solutions lie solely with deliveries. The vast majority of delivery offices do not have automation so the major wiggle room is to make the act of getting mail from DO to delivery point more efficient. Of course there's always the issue of sick leave that needs to be addressed but that's a side issue really.

JB, if the DOMs and SOMs are not making the savings then this will not happen. Ultimately it is their budgets that are being squeezed.

On a slightly more cynical note (40+ years in RM does that to you) it could be argued that RB is on the verge of a master stroke?
All new entrants are working to the new 35 hour week, meaning that legacy employees are performing 4 hours more per week for the same pay. This is going to lead to a two tier workforce and therefore division of the workforce as eventually those on the new Ts&C's will outweigh the legacy staff.

Red, 99.9% of CWU members are more than happy to do their job and take their pay however as 200iq has stated, it also requires RM to take the agreements that were signed just over a year ago more seriously. RB could argue that he was not the CEO at the time and 95% of the current BoD were not in post but that is immaterial as it was a commitment that RM made to it's workforce.
As I have started in several previous posts, the second hour of the SWW was supposed to be achieved through cost savings in deliveries which DOMs and SOMs should have been working towards however it all went wrong. The cost savings were not achieved and the joint working group (which was set up between RM and CWU) was disbanded when RB took over last November and sacked all but 2 of the senior managers thus removing all traces of his predecessor.
