The business staff are on "Gardening leave" until end March when redundancy kicks in. Only in small stores have AM's been reduced; and in bigger stores some (like mine) have had an additional AM added. If you factor in all the pay-offs for staff already gone there blows any gain for this year. Next year yes. Across the chain the YOY margins are slightly better at the moment and the incentives that have implemented are working wonders with sales staff acheiving the add-ons. The laptop stock bought since Christmas is far better than normal, so the shake-up with the buyers may have worked as well. All this bodes well for next year but will not bne enough for this year. On the down-side is the insurance issue and poor stock levels in various areas. This has to be addressed urgently as we cannot carry on selling a poor range of everthing other than laptops.

The best buy announcement delaying until after DSGi have restructured and revamped a further 120 stores is good news indeed and YOY sales seem to be holding up well atm

That is just for you local store though surely? I was talking testerday to my AM and their AM's have gone from 2 to 3 (but ours is a top 16 store). @Jamster I can partly answer your question now. The business section had big cut-backs last month, well Steve Gibb (Head of Home delivery) has just announced the same 30 day consultation, and staff interviews. No details apart from this. Feeling more positive within my store despite the stocking problems of some lines (peripherals and printers) as their main lines have good stock. Laptops, AV, MS, and hard drives are picking up.

People seem too nervous today. Perhaps this will have to be a steady grower over time on the back of the news.
