while enjoying the glorious sunshine on the prom:
What would I do if I owned a controlling interest in WEB (and vast wealth as well like Mr JM here)?
1) I would not have to do anything. But it is under-capitalised though asset-rich and since I am the majority shareholder, unless I reduce my majority position somewhat , raising fresh capital may not be desirable. Besides, you have to say why you need extra capital,
2) Look to sell WEB and distribute proceeds. There would undoubtedly be buyers and this could be not a bad time to sell. Talk is of a change of heart about online gambling in US and challenges to such legislation could take time, and not be successful, devaluing my assets.
3) As 2. above but keep some of cash proceeds in the shell which I will continue to majority own. This sounds even better. I will have a nice slug of cash for my other interests, minority holders should be pleased. Most will be either in profit or nearly so and a cash rich shell is perfect for a billionaire with a lot of other interests and chums into cutting- edge tech looking for investors (see FFWD.
So, if I am right, which I doubt, the next few weeks/months could be interesting for those of us who don't necessarily take the fast buck and sell!
