That's because they're short sighted and don't understand how dividends work.

Gaps at 262, 189 and 140 ish on the 1h chart. I don't expect they'll get filled but I've put buy orders there just in case.

prionace - ramping/deramping... I dunno, it doesn't bother me, bulls and bears, there's two sides to every trade, you need a pessimist and an optimist to make a market so it's all part of the game imo. I play with a straight bat myself of course ;-)

This isn't a punt on an AIM share, where you're scrambling to get out, afraid of being caught on a spike. It's an opportunity to exploit a very unusual and temporary glitch in the market. I'm waiting until that glitch irons itself out and the share price returns to its normal value, on a nice even keel and upwards of £12. Even if that were to take 5 years you would struggle to find a 300%+ return anywhere else in that time so it's a complete no brainer... unless you need the money for something else, less lucrative.

Redhammy - Well done for knowing your risk level and sticking to it, nice profit.

Anybody who bought here has invested in peace and is praying harder for it than those who haven't invested. The only thing the uninvested are really horrified by is that they missed out.

prionace - No worries. Indeed we're a long way from normal circumstances so god only knows what might happen here.

FA - It's definitely good to be holding, we can agree on that. I just think people are putting too much weight on the divi, like it's a free cash give away or something... and if it gets cancelled, as I believe would be prudent if circumstances haven't improved, then they stand to be disappointed, irrationally so.

prionace - not sure what you mean, none of what I said is dependent on buy price. The current price gets marked down by the divi amount, so what you gain in divi you lose in share price on the opening on ex divi day.

Astralpro - it's not money for nothing though, the share price is marked down by the same amount on ex divi day, to reflect the decrease in the value of the company after paying out, so what you get in dividend you lose in share capital. The SP can often recover quite quickly, especially when people reinvest dividends, but other times it can trigger further falls in share price. It seems you're far from alone in never having held dividend paying stocks, judging by some of the comments about the dividend, it isn't free money.

There will be bumps along the way (we might bounce off the 30ma resistance and go back to fill the gap at 260p, for instance) but ultimately this is heading north now, don't get spooked into selling too soon when things get choppy.

It depends what the board propose, if they withdraw the proposal for a 39p divi then there won't be a vote on it. I'd rather they kept the money in the business and SP at the moment tbh.

That is still to be voted on at the AGM so not a done deal by any means and I will be voting against it.

Nah this isn't going back to 92p unless there's a major escalation in the conflict. Too many people waiting to buy the dips now they've seen what this can do.

That will be decided at the upcoming AGM. Personally I'll be voting against the divi so the funds can be retained in the business... because it's actually far from bau at the moment and it seems irresponsible to deplete the coffers with a divi under these circumstances. So keep the money in the bank and retain value in the sp is my preference.

That's about the only mention I've seen and was reported because it was a cruise missile, fired at a base for foreign troops, close to the border with Poland so it was quite a big event. But where's the rolling body count and list of hardware losses like we see for the russians?

If you believe what you're seeing in the western media is a fair and balanced view of the situation then I'm really not sure what to say.

That's an assumption shaped by the fact that the western media only reports russian military and ukranian civillian losses. I haven't seen a single report on ukrainian army casualties or equipment losses. For all we now they could be suffering terrible losses and completely demoralised. Whatever the truth is, we're not allowed to know it.
