Thank you for your answer, it has enlightened us a little. This holding is just one of two direct holdings and is only a very small part of our portfolio, therefore not a lot of time has been given to it but we did add to it recently. All your comments are welcome.
We spend most of our investment time these days keeping up with the Investment Trusts (which we hold about 50 of at the moment) these give us a very world wide range and coverage of all sectors, quoted and unquoted. To be honest the Investment Trusts have given us our best returns over the last 50 years, rather than those we have selected ourselves. While we have had some excellent rises we also have had spectacular falls with our selections.
Whatever works for one does not always work for others so long as you keep making a profit overall continue doing it.
As for retiring we did that 15 years ago and we STILL make money SELLING OPTIONS, albeit this year it is a very very small amount. The options have been a good regular income over the last 10 years. However the options are very time consumable and they have been reduced drastically. We may just have one or two maximum per month now, one being the probably number.
As for the comments from others regards God it is best to ignore them. Once we die all faiths and non believers will have to explain ourselves to the one Being who created us. However more to the point it is not nice criticising any one about their believes or what they do if it does not harm anyone. The idea of these chat sites is, we thought is to pass on information about investments, not to be rude to people we know nothing about or what they do.
Good luck to you all and keep buying, as it will pay off once the market turns. We have seen a number of these falls over the last 50 odd years and it always comes back. Our one regret is we did not buy more when the market was low in the past.
