It's well nigh impossible to fix a realistic longer term price target with any precision, because so much depends on what happens from here.

What we do know is that Alba have gone down on record as speaking of the "huge" gold potential in the Dolgellau gold belt, when Alba management are not given to making hyberbolic statements.

What we also know is that the recent price rise has boosted Alba's cash resources, enabling them to progress their projects more quickly.

It's for each investor to translate for him/her-self what "huge" may mean for the share price.

The 500k ounces used by the Daily Telegraph in its £750m figure for Clogau's potential worth (excluding any premium for Welsh gold) comes from the Snowden report of 2012 on the Dolgellau gold belt mentioned by First Equity on page 11 of their 15/06 research note.

Alba themselves have not provided any estimate, simply speaking of "huge gold potential".

But it is worth bearing in mind, therefore, that the figure of 500k ounces predates Alba's exploration programme over the Dollgelau gold belt by 7 years.

For myself, the recent share price performance has been encouraging but still has a long way to go.

Up to about 0.30p, it's been, in my eyes, a recovery from an exaggerated fall.

Going back into my records, I see I paid 0.51p for some stock back in October 2018, so we've not got there ... yet.

Since then, more shares have been issued, of course, but since then, too, they've made their discovery of 10 anomalies in the Dolgellau gold belt, 1 of which is 4x larger than that of Clogau itself.

"Huge" gold potential = huge upside potential, imho.

The warrants are held by participants in placings. Some of those participants will have sold their original shares, some will have held. With the exception of the most recent issue of warrants exercisable at 0.55p, all other warrants are currently in the money. Some holders will be tempted to exercise and sell, others will be tempted to exercise and hold, if they believe the shares have further to go, and others will simply hold onto their warrants for the time being. Until they exercise, they are dependent upon the company for the timing of the issue of the corresponding shares.

Nobody is saying they will cash out now, but they may well exercise their right to obtain the corresponding shares, so that they can sell those shares when they choose to do so.

Tax losses are only of value if they can be offset against taxable profits in the company (and not the group) where they are located.

This appeared to be on the horizon with the hoped-for flows from HH-2z, but is no longer an immediate prospect.

Again, they are value to an outside buyer, if the buyer is in a position to route taxable profits through the company concerned.

PS: it will also strengthen Alba's hand in any joint venture negotiations.
