Makinhay aka Talkinsh it. Claimed to be buying Centamin around 38-40p in tranches of 10000-20000. Racked up about 140000 then glibly claimed to have sold at 33p. Manifestly untrue or hopelessly inept - either way most people would keep a low profile for a while! GLA "Poor" lol

It was problematic certainly. Whether it was cheap remains to be seen. If I was selling a money pit, I would probably say it was a strategic decision rather than that I'd wasted enough money on it and was cutting my losses. I hope it does well though - there does seem to be a strong ethical dimension to Paf, a rare thing these days.

I was criticised for saying the dividend had been cancelled as opposed to suspended but I re-state my belief that the dividend will not be restored. Factor in Rob Still's recent heavy selling and Evander looks like a big mistake.

I honestly think that Evander is materially different to what was claimed pre-rights issue, namely a 100000 oz a year mine. As Jan Nelson was the main cheerleader for its acquisition, I believe that the "personal reasons" for his departure are that he was personally responsible for buying a pup. I still have my silver and have since bought 10 Suriname 1 oz coins and 10 Armenian archangels from Atkinsons - £400 including postage.

Yes, it's all going to go pop soon. The Fed are going to start tapering off QE because, apparently, unemployment is falling, the stock market is booming, inflation is under control, the housing market is recovering... yet 47 million Americans are on food stamps. But yes, Paf are on a sound financial footing and as good a place as any to invest. As for Still, well...I've never really seen the point of non-executive directors and he has done nothing to change that view.

I got another 10 "best value" for £225.40 and again received mint Brittanias. I know the kilo is a better value option but as somebody said the coins are easier to sell on.

Yes it seems to be the norm. I think you could at least avoid vat, if not the premium, by buying second hand antiques or coins? Antiques seem based solely on the spot price but bear In mind they're usually 925 sterling, so the premium is included in a sense. The antique fairs still have bargains, I suspect but I'm no David Dickinson. As regards vat, the real asset company and the like will sell you silver and keep it in a bonded warehouse vat-free but I assume it's payable on delivery. I'm happy with what I paid because it was free postage,next day delivery and,amazingly, people are selling Brittanias on eBay for £26 and £5 postage - and they are getting buyers.
