Depends what you mean by volatile - it touched 85.5 this morning. Beta of 1.5 compared to petropavlovsk at 1.72 and Pan African at just over 0.6 This will move - I bought last week at 78p so if it keeps that up I'll forgo the excitement of POG, MML etc. and take a steady rise!

The same thing happened with POG before the sustained rise - someone loading up before takeoff. It touched 75 yesterday so I would hope for a similar late rally today.

I sold out of Aaz yesterday on the basis that, if we use the gold price as the benchmark, the beta is lamentable. I wonder about whether the delay in the JORC resource update is the cause? You have to worry about the life of the mine until we hear otherwise. PAF now have the ounces and as I believe gold is heading back to $1500, they represent a far better bet - with massive reserves and resources, albeit some of those atEvander present technical challenges.

Yes, It keeps looking good but events have conspired against PAF. With the final results due at the end of September, I think it's worth being in because it could gap up quickly if the news is good - it can't go much lower, I think, so it's worth a punt.

I would imagine that it was algorithmic trading to fulfill a client order but keep the price down. That buy of 125000 was mine and it seemed to start after that. But who knows?

Gold didn't break 1350 but climbed after Comex closed for 4 of the 5 trading days. Hopefully this week, this key resistance will fall. At any rate, I think we've seen the lows for the year.

Thanks, happy to be back in. I was watching the gold price last night and have no doubt the 1350 will be claimed this week. I can see a few potential pieces of good news in the near future - the lack of debt is definitely a massive bonus. A new CEO and the problems at Phoenix ironed out - didn't the company who supplied the tailings change their extraction method which adversely affected the amount Paf could retreat? - this could be back to 16p in no time.

If the new ceo is a good 'un, then I think to the previous high of around 21p isn't out of the question. Medium term of course - maybe by the end of 2013.
