Allatsea - still plenty of room for growth in the UK in the market they are in. Its a mature economy - but certain sectors still growing.

Is it just the special dividend that people are looking forward to? I was struggling to see other silver linings in the update.

From my observation - share buybacks and special dividends have rarely been positive for anyone. Haven't seen any examples of where buybacks have boosted shareholder returns. Latest exampld Barclays. SP is below where it was before they bought back £700 million. Special dividend has done Tesco no favour - whats the point in paying shareholders loads of money only for it to be taxed.

jakeand.... they could reduce the number of shares so that everyone owns the same proportion of the company and the value of the company goes down by the value of the special dividend. Look at what tesco did as an example.

jcb - not necessarily - they could readjust shares by the value of the payout....

This could quite possibly be a company that goes bust... their last update was extremely downbeat ....

I certainly have shares - bought them at £1.50 last year. I wouldn't and didn't invest another penny in M&S - best years are well and truly behind and will sell in the very near future. The results were the worst of the supermarkets and the businesses offering outside food is disastrous.

I own shares in M&S and I saw nothing worth a rise in today's share price. Can someone enlighten me as to why those awful results means the share price should rise 10%. M&S is in the worst state its ever been.... mens clothing is a disaster and only worn by pensioners - home wares are dowdy.... I don't see where growth will come from.

What the hell is going on. oil up almost 2% and oil companies share price barely moved!

I expected thus to open at 1.08-1.09. It didnt. That would have reflected the good news at the weekend.

Hello Falkland. Hope you are well. You've earned your credientials on RMG and I never thought you could be right. Even though I disagreed with you; your presence on share forums is very much appreciated.

Impressive BT share price performance .

Can't understand how this is heading to £26. IMO the shares are worth £2. This company has made signficant losses and the high street is in disarray - cannot figure out what others are seeing here. Growth prospects are neglible. Other companies out there are a much better bet. Strong sell.

Economic recovery and optimism accelerating and positivity at its highest in over 10 years. Investors react by dumping shares. Behaviour of investors at total odds from reality. Bizarre!

Everyone is dwelling on the negatives.... simple fact is Vod is suffering because of lack of roaming. It also has a large debt - but is paying that down. Its sales were down 1.2% in a pandemic that has impacted on most businesses - many more businesses are down in excess of 30-40%... and their share prices are at all time record highs. Little sense to tbe movement downwards.... I see bright times ahead.

Bought £20k vod this morning. Sold £20k aviva. Market reaction to yesterdays results was over the top.

An extreme overreaction in my opinion. It's fallen about 10 pence too much... but there you go. Lower share price than during the great recession. This is pointing to where I am going to put my remaining funds. Far too cheap and undervalued - especially given the mass re-openings of schools and restaurants and countries...

Sales go down 1.2% in the worst year in 12 years with Covid 19. Share price goes down 7%. Other companies like wetherspoons and greggs have had sales decreases in excess of 30-40% and their share price kept going up and up....ridiculous world!

Skid - its more covered than last year when EPS were negative. I think the results were very positive and things can only get better with reopening of more of society.
