Unusual movement for day before ex dividend date.

37p valued bank of Ireland just about fair value. Now its 5 to 6 times earnings - on a sensible interpretation of the facts, its severely undervalued. at 37p - its still probably a little undervalued.

Topped up another 13k this morning. If it goes down to 4 euro, I'm adding 50k minimum. too cheap!

If it closes above £2.20 - that confirms a strong upward trajectory. Lets see.

I don't care to focus on those on this board with whom I disagree with about share price movement. Just focus on the upward trajectory and forget about those harping on about 1.75

hotdog. I take the same view. Lost £40k on Fastjet (all but 1% of investment)... lost £30k on the night of the referendum betting foolishly on sterling... lost £30k on other shares. Investments and bets turn sour and its only in the last 3-5 years I have looked at these very differently. People make mistakes. Good luck.

Hotdog - unless you have to sell BOI shares - absolutely do not sell them. Eventually there will be a major uplift in these. Seen it all before!

Touchy! That's what I am taking from the aforementioned comments. I am merely stating the level of undervaluation of this and other bank shares. Brexit is used as an excuse for people to act irrationally - we think one thing is going to happen or more likely than another, and people follow the flock and sell up. The fundamentals of Irish banks are solid, so its a buy for me.

Falkland - I haven't been on this board in earnest for weeks. I'm invested in a lot of other companies and watching them more than this. I have conviction - unlike you. You should have applied that same rule with Argos resources - but probably too late now as that is a basket case.

Falklandinvestor - no one is asking me to buy or sell. What are you trying to say? I merely am stating my position as it relates to the update. It's for no one's benefit and probably no one is interested in knowing. Good luck with your shorting - tight spread means you lack conviction.

On the basis of the update, I won't be selling any shares at all. For me, I continue to hold. The positive is that we are on track to meet the objectives set out in the turnaround and grow strategy. Perfectly happy to maintain investment levels.

Falklandinvestor - the market reaction is much more muted than any of the last five updates. The % fall could be classed as a normal swing down on any trading day without news. If we are to assume that the results so far are in line with expectations then we just need to check the annual report for what it said about forward expectations...

I think it would be good to see actual figures in a trading statement. I would have thought that something would be produced after the AGM. Re-assuring to know we have hit our expectation, but I definitely want to see the hard numbers behind the statements. If this is it as a trading statement, then it doesn't constitute a trading statement. It's like giving a sales update without any sales numbers.

I'm adding another £12k - shortly!

Overall, I am taking from this and other positive moves in the share price that confidence is slowly but surely being restored. Besides, there are too many bargains across the stock market, for me to even pay any more attention to this one.

Bought £12k and will be adding significantly over next few weeks if these go lower, or indeed, higher... The stock market is valuing this bank at next to nothing...

The share price is so far from where it should be that this is a complete joke. I don't hold Birg shares - but am sorely tempted to invest £60k from another share I own to buy these as the PE ratio is just too low. AIBG is another case in point - making profits well over 1 billion a year and valued at little over 9 billion.

If expectations met and we know expectations - then thats all, as an investor, I need to know. Great performance.
