An alternative viewpoint could be that if the number of Primark competitors has decreased this surely then strengthens ABF’s long term position and growth if it can be successful?
Better to be top dog on the High St than be in an on line dog eat dog fight over margins?
No one disputes the big challenges ahead for the High St but any outfit which can adapt successfully will be in a dominant position.
Risk v reward on this one, if ABF get it right then there’s plenty of upside in the share price to be had.
If I’m wrong then so be it.

I have to say, based on the current sp and looking at the dividend I’m tempted to open a position here.
I already hold LGEN, AV and PHNX.
I know they all operate in different fields of insurance, investments and pensions but they would all fall under the umbrella term of “Financial.”

Could be a general concern about weaknesses in the supply chain of vital components maybe?

Nice to see a director £30k share purchase.

If you look at the graph of todays’s share price there’s a huge spike around 11am and another mini spike around 2pm.

If the sp is to be depressed by any II sell off in any form then it’s nothing to be overly concerned with if you’re not looking to access the funds in a hurry.
I topped up last week on the drop and have my limit purchase set at 595p for a LTH for the divi.

The company are selling its medical division for £1.7B but the following paragraph on the RNS seems to have gone unnoticed:

Well, Mr Market marked down LGEN and MNG after their trading updates so fully expect this to go the same way tomorrow!

ABF even!

I bought into AFB this week for a number of reasons.
One of the reasons being is that I believe the shift to online is being overdone as far as retail is concerned.
Yes, buy your weekly shopping on line at Tesco because the weekly shop can be a chore…
However, there is room for a high street presence because as humans many of us enjoy going out with friends and family to buy clothes/fashion items.
Sometimes we make a day of it. And if the number of opportunities keeps decreasing then Primark stands to gain whilst other brands carry on with their online dog fight.

I have to agree that the trend is moving away from the High Street. And that’s one of the reasons why ABF is trading just above its lows of last year when the fear of C-19 was at its greatest.
It’s up to management to navigate Primark’s route successfully.
Online? Flagship stores…who knows, but they’re the ones paid the big monies to find solutions.
If they do, £30 a share will be cheap.
