I suspect today’s sell off was prompted by higher than expected inflation figures.

@TheThinker. Couldn’t agree more as regards folk having to watch their pennies.
From my reading a lot of the big retail boys seem to have got their act together earlier on in the year and placed their Xmas orders in good time.

The big supermarkets have to offer a balanced selection of stock for the “weekly” shop. Shoppers will soon moan if they can’t buy the milk, bread…these items can’t really be substituted.
Milk is milk.
However, BME hold an advantage when stocking their shelves because whilst there are certain products customers will expect to see in the store, most empty spaces on the shelves can be filled with items that aren’t necessarily replacements but will entice the shopper to buy them anyway.
Almost akin to “job lots.”
Keeps the tills ringing.

As per the recent trading update, the CEO stated “We have responded decisively to supply chain issues….as a consequence we are fully stocked heading into the Golden Quarter.”
I decided to open a position today sub 575p.
Lets see what the next trading statement says…personally, I think it could be very good.

The “Outlook” on the trading update is very bullish.

Given what the world is going through not a bad update. “On track to deliver at the lower end of full year guidance.”
Obviously supply chain issues but that’s across most businesses and no real surprise. Interesting to see how the market views it all.

Even big FTSE100 companies need an event or trigger to boost their share price. Increased Christmas advertising could well be that spark.

If RIO did exit the UK
market like BHP plan to, then how would it affect us PI’s?
I’m assuming it would be akin to owning any other company listed overseas?
Any thoughts would be welcome.

The vast majority of divi paying companies see their share price fall more than the actual divi.
Some investors like me who are holding for the income just ride it out whilst others prefer to sell their holding before the ex dividend date and look to buy back in cheaper.

It would seem “Premium” products could well be a decent hedge against inflation if margins can be at least maintained. RKT sits quietly in my p/f but its one I’m happy to hold.

If it drops further and touches 1650p then I shall considerably increase my exposure in ABF and raise a glass to those who are selling so cheaply.

Good to see the small drop on ex-divi day was eagerly bought into.

The broker downgrade at one point today momentarily pushed the share price down by over 7%.
Short term there are headwinds but it’s a quality company selling strong brands.
Anyway, managed to snuffle a few sub 845p.

And now I read Rihanna is taking her billion dollar lingerie business into brick and mortar.
The company is now turning to physical retail for growth, opening its own stores in the US next year.
European locations may follow after that.

The CEO of Parade , Cami Téllez, in a recent article announced the company are planning to open their first brick and mortar store. This will be in New York and should open in November.

Rising Treasury yields in the US force the NASDAQ down 2.8%.
DOW down 1.6%.
Could be a top up day tomorrow.

Opened a position here at 290p this afternoon, courtesy of the general market sell off.
Very happy with the price and looking forward to some serious compounding!
Whatever happens in China or with gas supplies may impact the sp but shouldn’t affect the business.
