It's almost like them buying a bank which provides loans for them to allow them to grow, keep control and not fall into very much debt - with income streams to feed off it. Great move, tbh am a bit surprised the market didn't react more favourably.

I sincerely hope so comeonvog. We are now closer to 2p than 3p and 3p I consider a low evaluation. Shame, there isn't a trading update - or maybe we will get one re how the company is doing this year compared to last - for say the first quarter - revenue must be a lot higher due to the higher oil price and possibly they are receiving higher gas prices too which will all help.

to me. Sometimes Scirocco's sp moves at the same time but as far as I can see there has been no corresponding movement. No obvious news - occasionally a company says - it has noticed the recent rise in the sp and knows of no reason for this - but again no statement. Just wondering if there are a number of people because of the time of the year i.e. nearing tax year end are putting some of their ISA amounts that remain for this year into the share - the flurry over the last few days might make that a possibility but presumably if this were the case I would have expected it to be at a lower level but be more sustained - so that we would see more buying next week. All, the current buying could be for or against that theory. Will have to wait to see if there is an announcement by the end of today - or possibly there is some speculation in the press over the weekend.
Having said all this it would be great to see the sp moving up again from here, it having been stuck at this level for so long. Possibly accelerated drilling plans? who knows. Have a great weekend.

I think that's exactly right - sit tight for now. I've seen it happen to a number of company's when there isn't news for a while after relative success with the sp before. There's usually a downward drift on lack of news - like you say possible buying opportunity but please as always - dyor and all imho. Would have thought we would get some news by the beginning of pril in the form of some sort of update re plans. The only thing that appears to be holding things back and this is generally speaking is market sentiment - the situation in Europe is obviously not helping in terms of returning to some version of normal.

Fingers crossed Setanta1 for more news soon and an upward jump in the sp once the horizontal drilling gets underway. Hopefully the financing won't be an issue given the reported financial returns and also I believe they were looking at other plans for the future too - some sort of acquisition. Doesn't seem that long ago that some shareholders were talking of the sp heading to the moon! Quite a bit of hype there and I think current market sentiment is keeping the brake on at the moment - but this share can quickly move when it does.

we get quite a lot of upbeat comments from management about where this company is headed then we don't get any news for some time it will just be good to get some new activity underway. The Paraguay Farmout cannot be that far away from completion and I personally think we deserve to be over 3p even without that news rather than shuffling sideways around the 2.25p level.
I noticed today Echo(also have drilling in Argentina) have got a new gas contract with substantially higher prices and that will also probably help President when the same price increases are provided to them.

Must admit it gets very frustrating being in this share. Last November the price of oil was at around $35 now it's $61 - $25 dollars more for each barrel and the gas prices President are due to get are going to increase substantially but the sp still has problems even making marginal gains.
So, many people including President Energy say the sp is way too low but week after week and month after month nothing much seems to happen.
Will be interesting to see if the sp does make any real gains in April.

Absolutelly brilliant posts. Thanks to both of you. Yes that mention of the 16m Tax loss being used for the acquisition I saw mentioned too Setanta1 and that was one of the things that was behind my question re how it could be used.
It seems a bit Catch 22 re the loan for later results. As loans are often secured on assets and we are not yet sure what those assets will be. Will just have to wait and see at the moment I suppose.
I still think maybe after a while this share will start to trend up again. As far as I can see it's been a bit of a pause in the market to take breath re the price of oil - but I think for all those companies who struggled last year for those with the increased price of oil and increasing production it will be a very different year.

It might drop a bit further. However, I've heard those same interviews and the organisations backing Zephyr in terms of the academic institution and the government organisation who is looking for new oil finds all give me a positive feel about the share. They have a strategy - part of that was the analysis of the core and determining what other areas might prove worth pursuing.
The main thing to me though is they have board approval for the next step and are keen to get to the drilling stage. Once there and if they get good results, plus further good news re possible resources in the area then that slight drop now will have been well forgotten about. All imho and please dyor but that is my view.

Just some of questions you might be able to help with. Firstly, are we still to get a proper analysis explanation of the cores. As far as I'm aware there has been news that there is good potential but no analysis of what the cores that potential is. Secondly, in terms of financing could they not take a loan and finance it themselves without a joint venture.
Lastly, I've never really understood how they can use their tax loss but everyone seems to say it is a good thing - how does it fit into the picture?

think we will get an uplift in the sp straightaway before any drilling. I suppose in an obvious sense a Farm Out reduces risks by sharing costs and pooling expertise - just wondering what other people think the initial impact will be.
In the meantime preparations continue for drilling to start around the end of March. Hopefully we will then start to see some good news flow.

Got to agree. Find it hard to understand sometimes why some people seem to sell on good news that only seems to strengthen Zephyr's case. I'm sure by the end of this week we'll be back to where we were and above at the end of last week. All still sounds very encouraging to me. I'm happy to sit and wait and watch the sp trend upwards.

I'd be absolutely over the moon if this company's sp got to 10p by the end of the year but given recent difficulty in even getting to 3p to me 6-7p would be an excellent result. As always all imho and please dyor.

when it comes to my comments on companies and their sp. So, I'm going to adopt what CH said in his recent interview when asked about the possibilities for the sp and say I'm going to take it one step at a time.
That's not to say there won't be good news before not too long but am prepared to be a bit cautious and it would be good to hear what they have to say and most important for them to produce some results based on their first drilling.
