I once saw an ad on YouTube and realised I was using Safari; which I keep as a "clean" browser for banking and other money stuff. Ads just do not get through the Chrome extensions I use [and I use Chrome for general browsing].

How do you think the people who have held or averaged down from those giddy heights feel? They might feel it is people who have ramped all the way down from when the share price was measured in pennies as the real trolls? Trolls who made posts like this:

Don't they have the wealth tax any more? I considered moving to the Azores before Brexit, but even though property is cheap, the tax burden I would have suffered was too much.

2 points:

1 - the country needs some inflation to (a) erode the national Debt & (b) offer a time-cost incentive to encourage people to spend now to stimulate the economy (which is why negative interest rates have been in use in Europe).

2 - no politician wants to implement policies that cost them votes. When 2 thirds of households own / have mortgaged properties in England it is hard for a political party to introduce policies to damage the private property market.

Would it be better for the nation if property was not overvalued ; yes. Would it be better for the nation if drugs were not criminalised; yes. Would either policy win more votes than were lost; no. So will they be implemented? Not without proportional representation.
