Git, no I don’t think it wouldn’t be cheaper at all to ship batteries from A to B than to have the fuel readily available. it would also be horrendous to manage on any construction site, deliveries are a premium some large projects are even limited for number of deliveries per day.

Let’s just throw some quick numbers at it for you;

the cost to purchase a battery (10kwh battery is circa £3000) you need one per hour to match the output of this system. So for 24 hours in a day that’s £72k x 2 =£144k to replace a single power tower via battery alone (the x2 is because you need to charge 24 hours worth while using the other set assuming a delivery every day). definitely not commercially viable on the purchasing front let alone the fact you need them spaced due to the heat generated from using batteries alone meaning it also takes much more space on site than the single power tower.

As an aside I Believe i recall reading some time ago that cost per kWh of generated electricity was within expected margins for a comparable diesel generator (I believe it was mentioned in a RNS a few years ago)

I think the flaw here is You are again making the assumption that the unit is a trickle charger with no real reason to do so other than possibly that you are a cynic (which for the record you have every right to be it’s healthy to take most things with a pinch of salt ). But unless you believe that afc is lying about the spec I don’t see how you could genuinely think that - the 10kw rated system is compromised of 4 x 2.5kw fuel cell stacks in series. Meaning the rated 10kw system is delivering 10kw from the fuel cell (reference from AFC website).

Nothing would stop someone connecting a larger battery to it in order to force the function to be a trickle charger for a much larger battery but that isn’t what it is marketed as.

Like I say I suspect the battery is used more like a capacitor is in an AC to DC converter and is intended to smooth the output (though I openly admit this point is speculation on my part)

Git - i take your sarcastic response as an admission you are wrong, but storage isnt atypical in these types of devices in order to provide a stable solid output. its actually an advantage for the tower vs a typical Genny as you still get some power output after the "fuel" runs dry.

Garonne - not that im familiar with but if you have evidence that it was genuinely please post it. if i was a ramper i wouldn't be asking for the evidence of a flaw to be presented.

the most i remember on the stability is a few comments on here along similar lines based on pure speculation, (mostly from ADE which was a blatant provable lie).

but no one, at all to my knowledge has ever posted any form of evidence to back it up.

im not arguing in support of the current design, i even a few weeks ago that a shorter wider stackable footprint would be better.

im a facts based guy and speculating without any evidence or information to back it up doesn't do anyone any good so where i haven't seen any evidence to back up a claim i disagree with based on my knowledge of the industry and understanding of the laws of physics.

So can anyone post any evidence at all that these are hard to transport across a site? given the fork lift points at the base i find it hard to believe that such a statement is based on any facts?

as i see it, given the closed fork lift point the only way to tip the unit transporting it across site would be if it somehow tipped the fork truck carrying it too, which would only happen with a useless operator driving with the forks at max height putting the design of the tower completely out of the picture for any possible blame.

additionally i suspect the battery unit is mounted in the base and would account for 70% of the total weight meaning a low COG which makes it very stable.. same concept behind why they couldn't flip the tesla model Y during testing, if it has a LOW COG it is inherently harder to tip over.

data on that is unavailable that im aware of, but it wouldn't be anything new or unusual either for a "free trial" to get word of mouth out. just the same as its quite common for service providers within the construction industry to take an initial job "at a loss" to get the foot in the door and make hay later once a relationship with the client is established.

its almost common for government infrastructure projects to be quoted low because you know they will run over and additional charges will follow.

i would still liken this to that scenario at present as speedy are effectively a service provider, with access to a new technology which their loyal clients will be hesitant on because its a change from what they are used to, same - its no secret people don't like change, so the hire cost will possibly be absorbed by hire of additional equipment. most sensible project managers wont risking the deadline of a project on a technology they aren't familiar with, but once they have experience with it or know someone who has (its going to take some time for that word of mouth to spread depending on how many units speedy have access to) so frankly even if they are still providing use of these free of charge 2 months down the line - i wouldn't be worried yet (again as someone very familiar with this industry and obviously a shareholder of 8 years who has had a good time of the peaks and troughs)

AFC has a good cash balance and speedy has a good reputation and plenty of customers i did wish they were at this point 3 years ago but im still happy enough that i topped up today.

Git, the business model of speedy requires them to sell nothing, they are a hirer. the customer pays Mob/Demob rate and then a weekly hire - assuming it follows the same hire structure as every other generator going.

It’s heavily weighted on stock quality, given this stock has been falling since the early 2021 overhype where a notable growth spured a lot of excitement and the stock shot up to an unsustainable (at the time) high.

The points you keep talking about are always so baseless. There are legitimate things to have gripes over with this stock (as there is with all stocks over a given time period).

at the moment admittedly a lot of these will ultimately be to flash green credentials but over time as more units become available these will get more and more busy.

its still early days for the tech deployment. they wont replace diesel overnight just the same as diesel generators weren't everywhere the instant they were invented. this isn't Mitsubishi its going to take some time for production to ramp up and for word to spread. its an evolutionary solution not a revolutionary one so time for consumer confidence to build is also a factor, but that's exactly what is happening now. again construction and Civil engineering is a sector i work in there is definitely an appetite for this tech.

Based on the April financial report its hard to come to the conclusion cash is running out? £40.2m cash reserves for year end with an opening balance of £55.4m, plus we won the £4.3m government grant in the meantime, with no news which would warrant an assumption of a significant increase in cashburn.

go ahead show the math's behind your wonderful reasoning. its only a few moment arm calculations factoring in the inertia of the load and forces due to angular momentum then when you know the force which is excessive to the stabilizing moment caused by the weight of the load itself , you check against the capacity of the strap. - a hint, you should consider the emergency stop scenario too as often that is the worst case.

An engineer who plans these things you mean..... its verifiable from the photo, each ratchet strap has one ratchet end and one with just a hook - both ratcheting ends are of the aft side of the trailer meaning they are crossed. you don't know Eddie you fool anyone with enough experience to get a haulers license would spot that instantly.
