Well that was an excellent finish. Happy days ! There's an interesting article on FT.com about labour's stance on the North Sea industry. Apparently 800 firms have written to labout threatening over 42000 jobs would be lost if the wft plans were to go ahead , also gmb union labour's largest backer have kicked off too !
Next week there's the further debate on more oil dilling too in parliament . Interesting times and imo the tide has turned here at last !
I suppose the POO likes a hot ppi number because it proves demand is still raging in the US so therefor needs more oil/energy! It just depends what the FED do , I guess just hold the rates for longer. However the POO is steady due to global issues ,I.e middle east and demand in the US. So therefor this is a great place to be still. Even more so with the dollar too.
Interesting
The market LOVES inflation.... The market HATES the FED trying to slow inflation.... the market ONLY cares if the FED starts raising rates again to try and slow inflation. No rate increases = market is bullish and PPI numbers are GOOD!!! learn it!!!
That's great about falling gas prices. Let's hope so ! That way the government can not justify this ridiculous windfall tax ! What ever you read in the news about Labour they will not destroy the north sea. No chance. I dare say they will come out and support it in order to win votes in Scotland. Cheaper gas will mean a better economy, and also will be a massive positive to keep using gas rather than wind power !
HBR got the deal because of energy security for the west I imagine. Adnoc are a member of Opec and we know they play hard ball so a western nation isn't going to give them global assets around the world which will therefor give opec more power and the West would be alot worse off.

"If it did step in, what sort of concessions might be needed?
There are two possibilities which Scrimgeour sees. The first – more likely – one being a carve out of the German business, which would become a separate company, similar to what has been done recently for Neptune Energy being taken over via its $5bn Eni deal.
Less likely would be Harbour Energy buying Wintershall DEA in Germany outright. "
Lovely UT today at 264p !!
Also the other bullish signal regarding the acquisition, The German government are looking to offload their stake in Uniper in order to fund their federal budget ! So therefor they are hardly going to nationalise Wintershall when 90% of there production is overseas !
