175p would be nice Rock considering my purchase price 4 years ago of 177p. The only way I will ever recover this loss is to keep banking the dividends, my average price now including dividends already banked is 160p. I could average down. I either need a takeover or be patient and keep taking the dividends. It's only a paper loss until I decide to sell. I don't need the cash so I will hold on. ITV not one of my better investments it has to be said.

I should point out Fleccy that VOD profit did include 5 years of dividends and a doubling of the share price.

Nuri123a, don't get me wrong I made a very good profits in VOD, I held them for 5 years and made a 6 figure profits. I don't know where I got £200m debt from, as soon as I pressed post message, I thought what have I just said, I then looked it up. LOL

I sold out of VOD at around 200p or just over, I thought that the dividend at the time was unsustainable, I was proved right when they cut it. I switched in to BT and you've guessed it they cut theirs. I think that both BT & VOD will do well over the long term. Good luck with your VOD investment Nuri.

I think that you're both right Janus & Peachy. Although, I do think that this is a massive overreaction by the market. This wouldn't have happened 20 years ago. Today it sadly does. Management will come under pressure if this carry's on. Disappointing to say the least.

Smalltrader, just a thought, maybe the BOD are attempting to make ITV more attractive by cutting debt from £783m 2020) to £467m 2021 down £316m. Plus cash in the bank of £704m. Any asset strippers love cash in the bank. JMO.

I like dividends but I'm not that bothered that the BOD have retained the cash for the good of the company. I do think that the BOD have plans for maybe taking Channel 4 if the government allow it. So this maybe the reason for not paying a dividend. Having watched the Q&A in the H1 results Carolyn said that ITV don't have any plans for acquisitions, they intend growing organically.

Agreed Bkkb, the interesting thing is the amount (10.5m) following the MS RNS announcement of 5%.

A large ordinary sell trade for 10.5 million shares reported after the close today @17.47pm.

Fleccy, I've not seen that there as actually been an RNS issued regarding Altice owning the reported 12.1% of BT. Does Drahi through Altice actually own the shares or could they be options?

Agreed Solley, the worlds gone mad. You will get a company reporting losses with increasing debt and it's share price will go up. ITV report good results Net Debt dropping, with cash in the bank and the share price is manipulated down.

Maybe we will find out who MS have disposed of their 5.02% BT holding to within a few days? If it's announced that it is Drahi I think that we will be revisiting 200p rather quickly.

I very much doubt it Peachy, it's in Carolyn's interest to have a high share price not a low one.

Yes I would agree the ITV BOD are in control of the company but unfortunately they're not in charge of the share price. I take your point the BOD could have declared an H1 dividend, maybe they're being too cautious.
