What do we think is Science Groups longer term ambition here. Do they want to progress TPG as an individual company and get a return on their equity investment somehow or do they want to take the whole company eventually and if so what is the perceived plan to get it? Takeover offer eventually perhaps, though at what price?
The previous management didn't really do anything for shareholders as the SP reflects and now it seems doubt is creeping in on Science Group intervening with their recent equity stake.
I've always got soft spot for British manufacturing but that too often leads to losses in terms of equity value destruction unfortunately. I'm from the Thatcher Buy British Era. Cheers NR.

Most boring stock doesn't sound too bad when the stuff I invest in tends to bring me closer to homelessness as each day, month and years pass while I wait for what can only be described as miracles.

Anyone know how the placing was done? Were there signs of selling in the market or did investors subscribe to it as one used to normally do in the past. I never particularly like forward selling placings as the buyers generally don't know they are funding one and instead believe they are buying in the market from the existing share capital.

Well, I bought in today on the drop. Not sure if I've done the right thing but the figures were kind of what I was expecting, mindful that as they have made a few disposals, the existing business is a bit smaller in size hence not too spooked by the turnover. Just wonder what they can sell next to take a chunk out of the debt. Bit risky but what isn't in this market?
I think I was encouraged by Schroeder holding a big stake too, assuming they know what they are doing? :)

Well with respect to Zulu since Nov 5th we have due diligence from interested parties being conducted and others showing interest (according to RNS).
If the stuff is in there, surely a deal is coming?

It's a very noble undertaking trying to save a great old and established British engineering company that manufactures but how realistic is it? I'm an 80's era, ex engineer and the pressure to move production to lower cost countries saw much of this country's manufacturing move abroad to survive financially.

Modest profitability forecast for the second half of this financial year so what will the next Interims show? I hope they can find new markets/customers for their casting ability and skills.

What happened to the great 'Buy British' campaign of the 80's?

Doesn't feel like anyone is piling in. It's up to Aberdeen investors to vote on it so hopefully we'll here more on why the mgmnt want to buy it.

What exactly is the merit of this acquisition? At the moment the market doesn't seem to be impressed and we could do with a profits history and forecast for ii and any level of debt taken on (if any).

Yes, though they used shareholders money to buy shares to hand out to directors or employees for future awards? Any idea of how these future awards are to be given in terms of achieving performance targets?
Would prefer some director buying to boost confidence. Does seem decent value at this level, but so does everything I buy and then often goes lower still. An interesting product base in this company.

I think it's just the usual profit taking after a good run and strong buying from the company pension trustee. Once red sets in, it usually starts a trend but at some point it should turn blue again ahead of full year results or a trading update in between.
I sold a few on the results but still hold some and will hopefully but some back lower, if I'm lucky enough and don't get caught out. Still has a pension deficit, but at least profitability is going the right way.

the Interest in progressing the project is still alive. At the moment we are at a strange time for fossil fuel (in the rich and exuberant countries) but I think coal is vital for these poor countries as a fuel source and power generating fuel. I'm still holding firm for that reason.

Someone flogged a million yesterday, hence the dip looking for buyers. Could it be AB selling his entire stake eventually?

If the license is lost and the shares collapse, it would be a punt on Saudi assets and I'd have to expect further placings etc etc and another string along, so I don't know if I would buy. All my investing is done on a knee jerk reaction and with the intention of not staying long term as those 'riches' narratives rarely play out.
I do though hope Kefi announce funding in place by January 2020 for current shareholders sake.

Anyone get the feeling that Gold will be mined eventually but it might be under different owners in the future?
What happens if the funding isn't in place by January? License gone? Then what? Handed over to someone else?

Has everyone abandoned this company? I couldn't get a quote today. Is this still listed. I know it's just had a 'consolidation' of the share capital which is not a good sign usually.

I'm surprised how well this SP is holding up considering they are expecting a first half loss of £10m and an uncertain/unknown second half.
Half year results expected in Feb 2020. I wonder if we'll get a further trading update before then? Decided to exit a small position with the expectation of re entering later if things are shown to improve and are heading back to healthier financials.

Well I can't see a bull case here myself. Buying a company that was about to float feels like buying at the top to me, unless they are talking the price right down to a decent PE ( and no debt), so it can be earnings enhancing at least.
Can't see what ABDN can add to stockbroking except advertise their own products which are likely not that interesting for investors using stock brokers to trade individual company stock.

So the government condition on the license extension is that Kefi has to re-confirm by 31 January 2022 that it has procured the necessary Project finance. This same government has just declared a state of emergency with rebels advancing, to presumably throw them out?

Looks like it's gone from not too good to seemingly awful and uncertain. £10m first half loss expected and not sure what the second half will bring though expected to be better at least. Not sure where this going at the moment though up isn't likely for some time.
