So we’re saying ST validated Gen 1 materials, launched the sensor in May and now pulled the plug the following month but haven’t told us otherwise Nanoco are holding back market sensitive information?

Tony the RNS told us that they don’t expect another order in the next 29 days and that are uncertain about the range of outcomes but will update in October. Indeed yes they may say that the deal is off but equally they could release more accurate supply estimates that align or exceed previous estimates.

What’s happening here is a few posters like TG2D or FH are effectively stating as fact that the deal with STM is over without any supporting or official confirmation. Without balancing their views as opinion or without expressing them as one possible they are simply making it up and misleading investors. Most of what they are writing just now is made up and easily created in the shadow of a lack of information. They may be proven correct and if so I’ll be eating that pie but if they are proven wrong in time I hope people recognise their mistakes.

Nanonano aside from the amazing new design of BrightSense sensors, what do you rate the chances of QD film being part of those sensors operating in the 940Nm range at? In fact anyone have a view on the chances out of 10?

So we can look forward to some more license revenue then for using our CQD IP? :-)

This is semantics Nanonano as you well know. but saying BrightSense has zip to do with QD's is not correct and you know it as you have admitted as much. I watched it live and took many notes including

ON CHIP FEATURES

-New sensors don’t follow front-side illuminated approach but instead use backside illumination in a different order to frontside. Collects more light from wider angles.

-Increased sharpness/definition and optical character recognition v previous blurry images which the processors struggle to accurately define.

- no loss of NIR light at high angles

- ultra compact 4mm sq. camera

- 3d stacking architecture allows more technology and therefore applications _ auto wake up, background removal saves processor capacity, image noise reduction-Signal to Noise reduction gives better imaging

They are providing the product and tools to evaluate – hardware and software. Camera modules and sensor boards to ease integration and evaluation.

No mention of QD or NIR/SWIR other than in some of the graphics re image capture.

1billion pcs shipped previously by STM - superior performance of BrightSense should be good along with turnkey kits this should speed up adoption and integration.

TG2D you say Gen 1 is all but dead.

In my opinion Nanoco provided ST with sufficient material to last many months, more than Nanoco anticipated. I believe Nanoco has made an error by misinterpreting what ST were going to do with the newly validated material.

CAM-55G1 was only launched in May "17-May-2024 Version 1 *Initial release" This is a camera module that incorporates VD55G1 sensor. This sensor was previously listed as working at 940Nm and we know that CQD's are required to achieve this on a small and cheap scale.

Along with CAM-55G1 there will be a software pack and a board available. The notion that all of this will quickly be adopted into devices that themselves are likely still on the design stage or at evaluation stage for mass production is flawed in my opinion. That's what's led to the delay from Nanoco's perspective in orders FY24 but in FY25 demand may increase and I expect it will. Will it be enough for more orders? Maybe not but Gen 2 will still be 2 years behind Gen 1 and be subject to many of the same development cycle delays Gen 1 has albeit the software etc should be similar so faster to incorporate into devices.

But VD55G1 might not be the one, perhaps it's one of the as yet released sensors that we should be keeping an eye out for.

One minute you say it has "Zip to do with QD's" then you say "Perhaps some sensors in that range may incorporate QD’s" and now you say it isn't anything to do with QD's.

I'm simply asking you to acknowledge that they might have 'something to do' with QD's rather than "zip" - can you do that or will you remain steadfast on your initial statement?

Footnote on page 9 showing the "first wave of BrighSense devices" says "And more soon...."

Feeks you are betting against STM as well as Nanoco and researchers like Yole with these assertions. Unless there is another company able to unlock SWIR CMOS sensing cheaply and in small die sizes without using Nanoco that is.

If Nanoco are involved in the of mass adoption of SWIR sensors in handheld devices you could yet end up with egg on your face.....as indeed might I with my contrary views. But mine are formed from the commercial supply agreement with ST and indications from ST about their SWIR sensing and that they have made a sensor specifically for handhelds as VD55G1 is purported to be....just remains to be confirmed how 940Nm has been achieved and if Nanoco QD's are the enabling tech.

I listened to the Webinar live and I agree the presentation was about the architecture and QD's were not mentioned, however I don't believe that means QD's are not involved as you imply.

The photodiode was shown in the presentation for back-side illumination and whilst the photodiode make up was not shown, I suspect it includes a layer of QD film.

VD55G1 was referenced (pg 9). That sensor we understand 'sees' at 940Nm (data sheet previously showed this). The graphics yesterday (pg 13) shows NIR light as part of the sensing capability captured at wide/high visual angles.

Steckel has long talked about colloidal dots and their importance for SWIR ranges in many presentations.

Unless you can point me to a cheap tech that allows these sensors to work at 940Nm without QD's I believe that at least one of the BrightSense sensors includes QD tech and indeed all 5 in the family referenced have IR capability.

I think you missed the point of the presentation- it was about the new architecture and the move from rolling to global shutter tech and the advantages it brings. But suggesting QD’s have nothing to do with it is incorrect.

These Apple articles are not always conclusive or accurate. I found another saying they were using Sony for Ip16.

That’s not correct in my opinion. Colloidal QD’s have been discussed as forming part of the technology for SWIR sensors in presentations by ST before. Only Nanoco has the IP. Nanoco and ST have a supply agreement. We have supplied ST with materials for sensing applications.
